I finally have caught up to SOX, a book written by my friend and former Tribune colleague Bob Vanderberg. He talks directly to the principals in Sox history, including such greats as Billy Pierce, Al Lopez, Bill Melton and Minnie Minoso, and makes each Sox legend come alive.

Even though these names predate my own Sox fandom by decades in some cases, I know these names and have met the men, in a few cases. Yet Vanderberg brings them to life and puts their accomplishments in context, warts and al
