очень непоследовательно, никакой заявленной "принципиальностью" худперевода там и не пахнет. интересно лишь как продукт литературных войн под одеялом середины прошлого века. некоторые пассажи написаны в жанре доноса на коллег. социально близким коллегам по цеху прощаются все грехи (например, Заболоцкому - явные искажения "авторского облика", за которые страницей раньше распинался Бальмонт), на дальних вешаются ярлыки

ну и вся книга проросла советской плесенью

Читать, как Бальмонт переводил Уитмена, щедро вставляя эпитеты из романсов и дешевую лирику, было, конечно, и жутко, и увлекательно. Но когда дело доходит до восхваления мускулистости стиха, я пас. К тому же тут много критики, но мало реальных советов.
