The Little Soul and the Sun: A Children's Parable Adapted from Conversations with God
The Little Soul and the Sun is a simple and powerful story that brings children a very profound truth: there is not absolute good or bad--that underneath all that happens in the world, all that we call "good" and all that we call "bad," is love. Your child will discover a God that she or he can love, because God is love, as are all the Little Souls who are a part of God. A...more

I normally don't read spiritual, but a friend recommended it. First on an illustrative standpoint, I love the image design and set-up of this children's parable book. Showing God as the sky and sun does leave the readers open to think what they want of God's image. Trust me you don't want a religious war over what God supposedly looks like. As for the message, perhaps take it with a grain of salt. To some they may perceive this as some people do good or bad things and that is their "niche or goa...more
I have mixed feelings about this book.
On the one hand, it is very sweet. The illustrations really carry the text in that regard. I am very impressed by the art.
On the other hand, it has just enough "blame the victim" to leave a bad taste in my brain. I actually do appreciate the philosophy that, on some level, we choose to exist in space and time as a way to experience things we couldn't otherwise experience. But I'm not sure that telling that to a child is actually helpful. It felt more like "...more

This book is SUCH a great kids book - really, one of the best. Although I sometimes question Neale Donald Walsh's complete honesty, he really comes through with the most remarkable way of seeing life in this endearing little children's book. It's impeccably illustrated, and tells the story of a little soul talking with God (NOT pictured as an old white man in the sky, but rather as the sun..refreshing, and making out the description of the story as a 'parable' on the cover to be a bit less put-o...more
Based upon Neale Donald Walsch's Conversations with God, The Little Soul and the Sun tells the story of the little soul who wanted to experience who he was. The little soul had already realized that he was light but did not know how to be this. God explained to the little soul that it was hard to discern the light when everything was bright. They decided to play a game of pretend. The little soul would go into the darkness so that he could see his light. Moreover, he would go into this experimen...more

I was given it as a present for my children.
This is absolutely wonderful! How often have I read this to my children? I cannot count! I have recommended it to friends, I have given it as presents to other people's children, I cannot recommend it ore highly! There is also a follow on, just as sweet and a wonderful way to show children the workings of the universe - and how very unique and special they really are - and everyone else in it.
NOT just for kids!!! I have taught this book to adult congregations in talks on forgiveness. When people have struggled with letting go of resentments, this simple tale gives them a point of view that allows them to heal and forgive and even shift into feeling grateful for everyone who ever hurt them. Powerful book!
I read this book at a friend's house. Its the best inspirational children's book I've read in a long time. The story is tear wrenching, sweet, and profound. What gets me the most are all the beautiful paintings. I love the colors for sure.

What a wonderful way of gently reminding us that we are all connected and that we are angles; we have just forgotten . . .
