Urban fantasy has become very popular, which has both its advantages and disadvantages. The biggest disadvantage, in my opinion, is that the publishers are rushing to fill the demand and being less selective than they might be for a less popular sub-genre.
Browsing through the fantasy shelves, The Passion would be one of those rare finds that while loosely fitting into the urban fantasy werewolf sub genre, also touches on historical fiction, horror, mystery, romance and socialogy. Its so much...more

romantics, fantasy lovers
I read this book when it first came out. I was still a young woman, in high school, and still interested in the world of fantasy fiction. I've come a long way (baby), but I can still appreciate the imaginative world of Donna Boyd's The Passion. I particularly love Boyd's revamp of werewolves, no longer man-beasts but refined and interesting men and women, capable of turning, at will, into wolves. The Passion is an excellent werewolf tale that reminded me a little bit of Anne Rice without the pages and pages of back story. The story moves along quickly and is very interesting.
I would highly recommend this book and the sequel to anyone who likes supernatural books with a story and not just all about sex.

Generally speaking, I'm not one for romance novels, but this hybrid of supernatural fiction and romance is really, really good...a lush and addictive novel about a werewolf society. Recommended for those who like fantasy and supernatural tales with a bit of a love story thrown in for good measure.

Love story/Werewolf
These books by Donna Boyd, Passion and The Promise are actually on my top ten list. Both men and women I have recommended these books too have loved them. One of my favorites literary characters (Matisse) is in these books. Highly recommend.

This is like the original in werewolf fiction. I loved it. I read this one and its companion title, The Promise, in the late 90's, and cried my head off!

This is the first of Donna Boyd's werewolf novels. Boyd does for werewolves what Anne Rice does for vampires.
