Gwen was put in a mental institution at 18 by her mother, after she said a werewolf was responsible for the accident that killed her father. Four years later, she's removed from the institution by Eben, an alpha werewolf who recognizes her as his mate. Gwen wakes up to find herself in a big isolated house with Eben, Eben's brother Christian, and Eben's father Connor. They all treat her pretty well and she eventually recovers and starts finding out about them.

I really liked Gwen's relationship wi
Thanks Fre06 for the recommendation. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and its very alpha hero. From start to finish it's solid. I enjoyed the characters and the plot was engaging.

Loved this book but just wish it was more detailed the book sometimes just felt too rushed. Bought this a few years ago and still one of my faves.

I really enjoyed this book. The Romance was just as I like it (with a very possessive Hero).
The only reason this is 3.5 stars and not more is as the h was traumatized because of an incident with a werewolf (she was in a mental institution due to this) but the acceptance of being a mate of a Werewolf was not difficult enough. She tried to run away only once but I would have expected more struggle from her side. Also, the ending was a bit abrupt.

Overall I enjoyed this book and Thanks Fre0

A very dull and predictable story that has too many fillers. Characters are very stereotypical with very little development. And even though it is a erotic/romantic story, there is barely any romance it. The sex scenes is more like rape than mating. There is little annoying details that annoys readers (unless they are unobservant and unimaginative). A total disappointment as a whole.

The whole story could have been could have been condensed to 20 pages with all its fillers. Though a few fillers a

It took only a moment for Gwen Branson’s life to change forever. Committed by her mother to a mental institution after her failed suicide attempt, Gwen understands that people believe it was her father’s tragic death in the car accident that drove her to slit her wrists, but only she knows the truth. It was the terrorizing sight that she witnessed of a werewolf devouring his human prey by the roadside that triggered her botched attempt. Content with her sedative life in the sanatorium of sleepin ...more

Good read. This is a shifter story where the weres are not just humans in fuzzy coats.

The hero's brother gets picked up and committed when he gets caught starting a change. When the tranqs finally wear off he calls home and they send his brother to get him out - only he has discovered that one of the female inmates was incarcerated for claiming to have seen a werewolf. They stop on the way out and she is tranq'ed to the gills - but the brother recognizes her as his mate so they bring her uncons
This is my first foray with M.A. Everaux. I doubt it will be my last. This is a werewolf story with heart and meat. I really liked the characters, even though I wanted to smack Gwen in the head a few times. No one could be so naive.

A fellow reader commented that she was weak. I disagree, I found her to be naive and sheltered. And due to the circumstances she was raised, he actions and reactions were very appropriate.

I adored Eben. He is how I like my alpha males to be written. I recommend for a

3.5 stars because of Gwen and the ending that was absolutely lacking, especially for people like me who crave that HEA factor and the whole epilogue with that sugar and cupcake sweetness.

I will however say that for the length of the book, there was a good plot, tons of great, hot, borderline animal, sweaty sex that I am sure you would all enjoy a well as a great almost OTT alpha (and by almost I mean because it's like OTT with an exception to this one scene that wouldn't make any sense to OTT A

Eben was a refreshing Alpha hero. He never came off as a jerk to me. Yes, he was firm and never back down and that's a sign of a true Alpha wolf. This was an interesting take on finding one's mate in a loony bin. I like the relationship Gwen developed with Christian. Gwen did one bonehead move but I guess we needed the conflict. The sex was hot, really hot!! The only thing I'm left wanting to know is why Theron kept visiting Gwen in his wolf form. He wasn't trying to kill her then, so why the vi ...more

I liked this book. I was frustrated by the heroine. They make comments on how she has grown as a person from her arrival but in the end she never stands her own against her "Mate". They just have sex and all the problems are resolved. If they really did break her out of a mental institution then once she phoned home the police might have been looking for her but nothing ever comes of the mention of her relationship with her mom.
i really didn't like this book and not because it was badly written or anything like that, it was just that it made me feel sick. I don't mind voilence but when a person takes away another person's ability to make descisions over their own life and then ad rapelike sex to it all and still make it out like the girl likes it while she is crying I just don't want to be a part of it...sorry.

Average overall. It had some bits that I liked, for example, the werewolves were of the scary bipedal monster type instead of pretty wolves. But there were some problems. The romance seemed rushed and inconsistent. Plus he treated her like shit and basically sexually assaulted her and she woke up wanting more sex. Yeah, no. There were other things but I'm tired of thumb typing and you get the gist.

2 1/2- 3 stars. I am a huge fan of PNR, and I was so expecting to love this one. It kept coming up on as recommendations on forums that I visit--but it definitely did not click with me. The reason I even gave it almost 3 stars, was because I felt the writing style was decent, and I liked this version of a "Were" world. I actually also loved the secondary characters, Connor and Christian. I just had major problems with the main characters. I really do enjoy a possessive, dominant, broody alpha ma ...more

Gwen has been in a mental hospital in Ohio for 4 years since she saw a werewolf kill her father. She's heavily medicated and draws pictures of the shifter from her nightmares.

Christian, a were is thrown into the hospital for getting into some trouble. His adoptive brother, Eben the next alpha of their pack takes a whiff of Gwen and says he's taking her with him as his mate. They take her to their family home in the high country of Canada.

Gwen has a bit of a problem. The next Alfa Wolf of a clan in far northern Canada is lusting after her. Actually, she has lots and lots of problems. The first is she is in a mental institution because she saw a werewolf and nobody would believe her. Her mother had her committed and wants her to stay committed so she doesn’t offend any of her friends. She has been kidnapped (sort of) from the institution and now, she finds herself living with one of the most demanding werewolves around!

I really liked this book. It starts out with a really messed up heroine. She saw a werewolf kill her father and her mother planned on committing her at the first sign of mental problems. So instead of trying to help her daughter, she just waited. When finally Gwen couldn't take it anymore and tried to commit suicide, she was in a mental hospital for 4 years. Christian is a werewolf that was committed because they thought he was going crazy during the full moon. His older brother Eben comes to pi ...more

Oh my... what a book. A total waste of pages with almost no content. Don't take me wrong, I don't mind the age difference and many hot scenes. Plus I always like older hero/younger heroine stuff. But definitely not a very weak heroine with no back bone paired with an overbearing hero who kept act like the almighty.

I was quite hopeful at the beginning, thinking that through their relationship and other problems they had to face, both will learn and change. Instead, she kept letting him walk all

Even though I'm a few years late reading this, it is still a very good standalone PNR read. The heroine Gwen, now 22, is a little naive and scared -having spent the last 4 years in a mental hospital. Put there by her mother, she draws and has nightmares about the werewolf that killed her father. Eben, an alpha were, scents Gwen is his mate while rescuing younger brother Christian who has been placed in the same hospital. Eben kidnaps Gwen& takes her home where she meets Eben's father Connor-a ...more
One of the best EC books I've read. Lots of tension, pretty good sense of character. The heroine was a little weak, but sensible most of the time. it was an ok story, nothing more.
I'm ok with the many explicit sex scenes and all but the chemistery between hero and heroine was totally missing. no wow romance in there for sure.

may containt a bit of spoilers, be aware:

The heroine was weak. I know that she was in an hospital for years but hell, she was bullied around by the hero and everyone was ok with it, even her. She is bullied to have sex with the hero (who up until now she was afraid of and didn't even like) and SHE was ok with it. o.O

A kdo ví, kdybych ji četla kdysi dávno, možná by mě bavila o mnoho víc. :)
