Poetry. "I was surprised by the talk of this traveler in the age of sometimes miracles. These poems are an intimate reading of the spinning globe in a taut and compelling language. Space shifts. I remember again how necessary poetry is in this landscape of a different age. The mall after all is an equation of love and sacrifice. We need Janet Holme's vision, her brilliant ...more

Neon and Hibiscus are my favorite poems so far in this arching chapbook of poetry. Ms. Holmes covers a lot of ground in this collection. She is a taut writer and I do so enjoy her writing, and I will revisit this review once I am not so awash in other poetry.

Perhaps if I had read The Physicist at the Mall on a week I wasn't already falling in love with 5 other new poets- it would have stood out more. She also teaches at Boise State, which somehow endears her to me more.

Signed copy - read way back in 1993 after a particularly great reading in Laramie. I remember being really impressed at the time. Rereading some of my folded pages, still impressed, but maybe not as much.

Wish I had a better memory.
