NOTICE: A free copy of this ebook was provided to me by the author to review. However, changes have been made to the book and a newer version has been posted to Amazon since I last read it. My review is of the copy that was presented to me in June.

UPDATE: I will post a long detailed review about this series in here soon, but I can't help but notice so many haters on this wall. Many of them are writers which makes me roll my eyes. This series does have its flaws, but it's mind bending and I am so loving it. So stop hatin' nd start participatin'

Officially a favorite. Review will follow. I am so blown away but need to see more of the young adult characters that I love in the second book to make up my mind .

I haven't read something so original, enticing, and with such a strong voice since so long. Prepare yourself for bang on the head, a slap on the face, and one of those books when you say 'YES. I was looking for something like this.'
For a scant 24 pages, this novella is the best teaser ever. An awesome idea for an indie writer, i must say, because the purpose of this novella is to get you to decide whether you want to read the upcoming series, starting with Snow White Sorrow in October, or not.

Some books make me smile. Some books make me cry. Some books make me want to keep reading, to never stop reading, even if it meant slowly crumbling to dust. This book however was one of a kind, because it made me want to do all of the above. I cried for the queen's pain, and how caring and kind she once was. I laughed at the queen's attitude and cheek( which i loved BTW), and i could not put this book down. I scarcely give out ten out of ten ratings to books, but this one deserved much more cred...more

In this story the "evil queen" gives her POV on what Snow White is truly like. She isn't the sweet girl who talks to animals that we thought we knew. It's up to us to decide if these collection of stories told in another character's POV if they are telling the truth or not. Do we believe that Snow White is this innocent princess who is poisoned by her own mother? Or do we believe this queen who is not the evil one here, but Snow White is the one who is a demon child? I don't know if there's goin...more

Snow White Blood Red is told from the Evil Queen's point of view, which I love. Apparently everything we thought we knew about Snow White is wrong. The Evil Queen is actually Snow White's birth mother and not her stepmother. While the Evil Queen is definitely as narcissistic as we previously thought she admits to being not even half the evil that Snow White is.

The author sent me this set, since I told him I would love to read it. I quite enjoyed this first novella.

When reading this, you will come to relate to the Queen even more than you ever have before. You will wonder why Disney couldn't have made the movie seem as awesome as this story.
The Queen of Sorrow, who refuses to let her real name be known, is Snow White's mother (not her evil stepmother!). She calls Snow *Shew* as she likes to be called.

I love stories that take a well-known story and turn it on its head. This series of short novellas does exactly that.
This is the first time I've seen this done with the Evil Queen from Snow White. While I appreciate the creativity of the story, the writing itself leaves something to be desired.
Writing problem #1: Grammatical errors. There were quite a number of grammatical mistakes that could have easily been fixed through the use of an editor. This was far from the worst that I have read, so I'...more

This first entry in the aptly named Grimm Diaries Prequel series, gives readers a glimpse into the mind and heart of a much different Snow White Queen than the one that has been so vilified in her tale's many recountings.
She is allowed to tell a story that while short, gives a not so sweet view of the beloved Snow White.
In a tone that harkens back to a time when this famous yarn was more "shock and awe" than "sweetness and light" author Cameron Jace presents readers with darkly tantalizing sto...more

I flim flammed between 3 & 4 several times when deciding on a rating for Snow White Blood Red. I truly wanted to give this deviously twisted rendition of the infamous fairy tale, which Cameron Jace turns upon its head by using the "evil queen" as a narrator, a 4 very badly. It was engaging, unique, and I plowed through this dark rendition of an otherwise common place tale in under 2 hours. Yes, that would be furious, avid, I'm very engaged reading.
So why the 3? Silly little things. Silly lit...more

Interesting twist to the fairy tale, the idea is quite interesting but the execution is lamentable.
I have read a lot of amateur and fan fiction stories in the past (I have been judge for an amateur writing contest for 2 years and editor for three) and I must say that this story is awful and wouldn’t have passed to the second round anywhere. a clever premise, adequately delivered.
there are enough glowing reviews on here for this book/story, that i feel i don't need to do that thing that i do sometimes, where i try to be super duper upbeat-positive glowy for the self-published authors. because, yeah - there is a lot of crappy self-pub out there, but it seems unnecessary to shit-talk people who are putting it all out there and broadening the scope of the publishing industry. and there are some true gems out there, unknown to many. i...more

I haven't read/reviewed any indies in a while (except for books by J.L. Bryan which I absolutely love) because I just haven't had the time to accept any but I'm a huge sucker for fairytales so, when I was contacted by Cameron Jace to review Snow White Blood Red, considering it was just a novella and wouldn't take me long to read, I accepted right away.

Who knew Snow White's step-mother is actually her birth mother? Not what I remember as a child. She is the "Queen of Sorrow" and she tells her story while sitting on the deathbed of Jacob Grimm. Snow White is also not the sweet, innocent character we've all come to know and love, but is described as a "beautiful monster" and also one whom is even more powerful than the Queen herself. Though not without her flaws, the Queen admits her evil tendencies, but paints a much darker picture of her daug...more
Wow, just wow! "Snow White Blood Red" is an incredibly unique prequel to what I believe will be a great new series that might be as spectacular as Harry Potter. No, do not confuse my meaning. This is not a story about magic or magical beings. It is a story about the truth behind fairy tales. The world building is spectacular, the characters are creepy good, the plot is intriguing and engaging and the writing is simply superb.

This prequel story is written as a diary entry/ letter written to Wilhelm Grimm, by the Evil Queen – Snow White’s mother. In the letter she berates him for changing the true nature of the Grimm’s fairy tales, explaining how they were changed to hide the fact that the fairytale characters were actually immortals living among us, and tells him how as a child Snow White would bite people and drink their blood!

Ok. So I read Snow Glass Apples before I read this. I hyped myslef up and was prepared to trash this book. I was fueled with Katniss energy to tear apart, stick and arrow in its neck lol. Why you ask? because the of synopsis of Snow White Sorrow sounded so much like a mish mash of other books that I loved. ( of course I love nothing more than hunger games ]

The Grimm Diaries Prequels by author Cameron Jace are several novellas serving as teasers for his series The Grimm Diaries. In an interesting twist, it is said that the Brothers Grimm altered the true fairy tales and concealed the fact that these characters hide among us. There are seven diaries, each told by a famous character and to be read before reading the first full length diary, Snow White Sorrow. These diaries come with a warning that they don’t always hold the truth and that some charac...more

After discovering Bargain eBook Hunter about a month ago, I've picked up numerous free YA ebooks, and Snow White Blood Red (along with the next two prequels, Ashes to Ashes and Cinder to Cinder and Beauty Never Dies) was one of my finds a few days ago when it was still free. Numerous friends of mine have Snow White Sorrow, the first book of the Grimm Diaries series, on their to-read list, but if the quality of the novel is anything like the quality of this...more
This short story just sucked me right in. This one is in the form of a letter from the Snow White Queen to one of the Brothers Grimm, and it pulled me right along. I'm not usually into vampires and paranormal stuff, but for whatever reason, this one grabbed my attention (possibly because I like the idea of how the author is building up anticipation for his book Snow White Sorrow).
Anyhow, back to this short story/prequel. It has a prologue in which we learn the basics of the story - the Brothers...more

I'm still not quite sure what to think of this short, prequel to The Grimm Diaries. I expected something out of the ordinary. I didn't expect Snow White to be a vampire, or at least to create vampires!
The story is told from the POV of the Evil Queen, as a written letter to one of the Grimm brothers. She's chastising him for changing the fairy tale so much that it's no longer true. She claims that not only is she Snow White's actual mother (not a step-mother), but that she's no...more

I did not find the tale engaging, but I am not going to drop the series yet. I hope they will get more exciting. For a teaser it was kind of slow and too descriptive. Some ideas were just scattered and left without any proper explanation and other non essential matters were dragged on.

Snow White Blood Red is part one in a set or prequels to the Grimm Diaries. The story is told in the Queens point of view in the form of a diary to Wilhelm Carl Grimm. From her point of view we get to see how the fairy tale of Snow White has been twisted and changed so that the queen herself is no longer truthfully represented.
We follow the story from the birth of Snow White till the end result with an surprising twist to the story which I loved. I haven't read traditional fairy tales for a lon...more

Ahhh okay so this series, The Grimm Diaries Prequel, is, as the title suggests a prequel for The upcoming series The Grimm Diaries. This series basically takes everything you know about fairytales and flips them on their heads.
In this prequel the Red Queen is writing a letter to one of the brothers Grimm, telling her side of the story. The mythology and Magic that Cameron Jace winds into the story makes perfect sense with the Grimm fair...more

Snow White Blood Red is one of six prequels to The Grimm Diaries, the first of which, Snow White Sorrow, is set to release in February of this year. This particular one as the summary states is being told from the perspective of the Snow White Queen. The story definitely paints an interesting picture and one I look forward to seeing fleshed out in full. Snow White possibly being the evil one while the Queen, if not quite good, at least might be the one in the right? I’m all for these sort of ret...more
I found this short story because several people had recommended it to me and I am so glad that I did! It is the first of at least three prequels to a series of books that will be debuting this fall. I love the concept of the re-telling and restructuring what we all thought we knew of the Grimm Fairy Tales. I have watched the NBC show Grimm so I was very enthusiastic about Mr. Jace's take on the tales. This is a short story so it will only wet our appetite about what the author has in store but I...more
