The Earl of Masters’ newest mistress is the talk of the ton because of her titillating flouting of Societal strictures and because of her knowledge of classical art and architecture – the latest rage in fashion. What no one knows is that Lady Starlight is, in fact, spinster Iphigenia Bright masquerading as the earl’s mistress to catch the blackmailer of her beloved aunt – whom she thinks also did away with Masters.

But Marcus is very much alive, and he too soon brings his rigorously t...more

My brother came home to stay. Then also my ex-girlfriend. We weren’t engaged really. They took up the two spare rooms in the house. I had my own apartment, so I was left out of my parents home while my ex put her life back together. This went on most of the summer months. Brother left a box of good books in the garage as he left a month and half later. I still weren’t really supposed to enter the house, on a mutual understanding that I had no right to invade my ex’s private life now. Inste...more

I LOVE AMANDA QUICK!! Freaking love her!!! This particular story was great. I had a hard time believing her name was really Iphginia or whatever but I got over it once I all of a sudden became her and had the most daunting crush on Marcus. Yes. In these books I become the main character. Sometimes I'm all of them and act out the parts in the mirror. Yes, I'm a dork.. D O R K. Moving on... The story delivers intrigue, suspense and kept me up WAY into the night. Super fast read. Super rollercoaste...more

This was another case of light reading for me. I wanted something fun and familiar, and it has been several years since I've read this particular book. While an entertaining read, it definitely lacked some of the later flair of Ms. Quick's novels. I think that I will forever be enamored with her "Slightly Shady" trilogy. I believe it's going to be hard for her to ever re-create that chemistry and fast-paced adventure/romance series. Although, I think she's going to try to do so with he...more

I almost hate to admit that I have read just about all the Amanda Quick books. They are a quick bathtub or plane read when I just can't take anything serious any more. This one follows the formula, smart woman meets smart myserious man. Woman has mystery, man helps solve but woman does most of the work with some pretty good sex scenes mixed it. If you go in for a Regency romance with a twist, Amanda Quick is for you!

I feel obligated to add this book. Otherwise, my taste in books looks misleadingly high brow. I love Amanda Quick's novels. They're all historical romances with an element of mystery and a lot of humor. Quick also writes modern novels under the name Jayne Anne Krentz. I don't like the modern books because they frequently have psychic characters.

Most definitely a fun read. I really enjoyed the characters of Marcus and Iphiginia. It was most interesting to see where the story was going to go and what they were going to do next. Like always, Quick does a great job with her research and makes a really believable story. I really enjoyed it and think you will too.

Re-read annually, this Jayne Ann Krentz is in my top ten favorite Amanda Quicks. It has all the elements I look for in a book - interesting characters with amusing quirks and foibles, good dialogue, multi-faceted plot and sub-plots, and nothing jarring in the history area, such as anachronisms or modern slang.

I actually own this and many of Amanda Quick's books in hardback. I know that many complain that she writes the same type of character, and, she does. I happen to enjoy reading her books even so. She is just one of many, many authors who I enjoy reading.

I've read this one and most of her Quick books many times.

Another reread. This is absolutely my favorite Quick Regency, and the only one I own in hardcover. It's always got me totally sold from the beginning couple of scenes (their meeting in the ballroom amuses me to no end) and I can't ever stop reading it once I've started it.

These are the best historical period romance/suspense books. Amanda Quick is a pseudonym for Jayne Ann Krentz. I've read every book she ever published and they are all excellent.
