I like this book though the title is a little misleading. I had originally bought it thinking it was about symbols as in glyphs. The book does cover some of the holidays and major elements of the faith but more importantly, it places the things that a casual observer is likely to have seen in a basic context.
Altho I felt myself somewhat educated about Judaism, the symbolism here, with strong accents of the kabbalah, was largely new. I now have more technical understanding of what's what but, I don't know, the explanations didn't seem to help build an emotional understanding. The photos are gorgeous but usually not explained.
