Love this and swooning over Drake!I loved being whisked away into this original and fabulous story. There is something to be said about a book that can pull you in, you don't want to put it down, and you don't want it to ever end. Blood Debt did that to me. Nancy Straight has penned a marvelous story with many swoon worthy moments packed full of action, suspense,a forbidden love, and brings a new twist on mythological Centaurs. This was a total “me” book, and I say this because even though there were a few tiny flat spots, the story itself was just so enticing and fascinating.

From the very beginning I was tuned into the story. My attention never wavered due to lack of consistency or pace or cliché material. These characters were awesome ! I loved the protagonist, Camille. She was strong, snarky and a force to reckon with. Camille just lost her mother to cancer, and she never knew who her father was. Before her mother's death, she told Camille where her father was and his name. Camille caught a flight to meet her father and from that point forward, everything changed for her. She learning she had a family which included 5 very gorgeous brothers! Five!! The cast of characters were awesome. Camille wasn't the normal twenty-two year old she thought she was--Camille was in for the ride of her life and a quest to channel her unknown bloodline gifts from the gods.

"Right, I know you still have this idea that your're human and can go roll in the hay with any guy who catches your fancy, but that isn't your reality anymore."

There's a blood debt to be paid and Camille is tossed in the middle of it.

"I owe a blood debt to Kyle Richardson. He isn't going to force me to marry his son, at least not right away, but if his son hasn't been chosen by a Centauride by his twenty-ninth birthday, I have to choose him." *shivers* If you are looking for that "next-hot-guy-to-swoon-over" or "next-hot-couple" this is it!! Let me just tell you about this amazing guy, Drake. Not only is he described beautifully, but he is as swoonworthy as they get. I don't want to give away all the goodies, so you'll just have to trust me on this. The chemistry between Camille and Drake was intoxicating. These characters were awesome. So awesome in fact, that I couldn't get them out of my mind. Bianca was such a great friend to Camille and I just adored her. This was full of many unexpected plot twist and turns. I think my jaw had dropped at least 5 times, I kid you not. I CANNOT WAIT to get my hands on the second installment, Centaur Legacy (Touched, #2).

This story was packed full of chemistry, mythological characters, and plenty of hot swoonworthy guys. Throw in a sinister, power mad grandmother and a crazy uncle, too.

This book was addicting! Trust me, you'll want to read this!(less)

22 year old Camille Chiron lives in San Diego, California and is grieving from the loss of her mother due to cancer. On her death bed, Cami's mother finally reveals the name of her father and where he lives. Most all girls love their Dads even if they have not met them. Cami is no exception. She has fantasized about who he is. She does a background check and informs her best friend, Daniel that she is going to contact him. After stalling for as long as she can, she finally breaks down and calls him.

Will Strayer lives in Charleston, South Carolina with his wife and five sons. When he receives a call from Cami and discovers he has a daughter, he is estactic. He flies her into S.C. to meet her. However, when she arrives she is greeted by her half brother, Beau. He takes her to a restaurant where she gets to meet her other brothers. They all embrace her dearly without question. Even Will's wife, Gretchen embraces Cami much to the surprise of Daniel.

Will confesses to Cami that he and her mother had an affair. When her mother found out he was married she broke off all contact with him. Additionally, Cami discovers that she is a centauride (female centaur) who should have powers including reading the thoughts of others. Before she has an opportunity to learn these skills, her oldest step-brother is getting married in the garden of their estate. Prior to the wedding, Will informs Cami that her mother ran out on her fiance, Kyle Richardson 24 years ago causing a blood debt to be owed to him. Kyle has discovered Cami's existence and plans to be at the wedding. He wants to meet with her. She is nonplussed but agrees to the meeting.

Before Cami can even get dressed for the wedding eligible men are anxious to meet her. It seems that with centaurs, there are few women to go around and they hold the power and decide who they will marry. If a centaurian man is not engaged by 29 he will then marry a human but his bloodline will be diluted. While descending the stairs with her father, Cami trips and almost falls flat on her face. However, a handsome stranger, Drake Nash comes swiftly to her rescue and she extends her hand in his to introduce herself. This is a serious no no in the world of the centaurs. Unmarried women and men are not to touch or meet without escorts. They are not allowed to date and often their marriages are arranges by their parents.

Life is about to become extremely complicated for Cami because unbeknownst to her, she has other relatives that will do just about anything to get their hands on her. No matter how much her new family vows to protect her, her entire future is at risk and maybe even her life.

I truly enjoyed this book. The writing was excellent and the plot was extremely engaging. I enjoyed the characters especially Bianca and Drake. I also found that I liked Gretchen, Cami's step-mother. If I had a criticism, it would be that at times, Cami did not always make logical choices. What I mean by this is she would postpone practicing the very skills she needed to contact her mother, read people's thoughts and empower herself. Because of this, at times I felt she was weak. However, do not allow these comments to keep you from enjoying a truly good read. As I stated earlier, this book is uniquely refreshing and I cannot wait to find out what will happen next in book two.

I absolutely loved this book! Nancy Straight has started a wonderful new series with Blood Debt, which is book one of the Touched series. Just as with Meeting Destiny, Nancy has created endearing characters, a brand new world of adventure, and once again introduces originality into the paranormal romance genre which is refreshing amidst so many overused plots today. This book was a breath of fresh air. I love mythology but never have I read anything in depth about Centaurs before and that's what this book was about. It was a wonder and joy to read about them and their different customs and of course the history of their mythology as told by the author. We meet Camille just as her mother passes away she tells her who her real father is, curious as to who he is she looks him up and to her surprise he's happy to hear from her and about her since he didn't know she existed. But with this comes a lot of secrets such as that both her parents are decedents from Centaurs and they are both full blooded which means so is Camille. With her being a female and there being such few females she has her pick of suitors as the ration is almost 10 to 1 (I don't remember the exact ratio but you get the picture lot of men very few females). But of course she doesn't want to get married she's too young.

Not only does she have her dad in her life but also a new family which includes a stepmother and five stepbrothers who will do anything to keep her safe as Centaurs are very protective and warrior like. At the eldest sons wedding she meets Drake, but he's betrothed to another. She also meets the man her mother was betrothed to and he declares he wants to collect on his blood debt. If someone doesn't carry through what they were supposed to the jilted party gets to claim blood debt. He says that if his eldest son isn't married by 29 she will marry him but until then she cannot be with anyone else. This for her is good and bad because she’s not ready but then she catches feelings for Drake. But he is betrothed to another, her new best friend. It's all very dramatic and beautiful because they belong together. Instead of a love triangle Nancy Straight has created a love square which in theory the plan they came up with would totally work but then …

Her maternal grandmother decides to take her granddaughter to teach her the ways of her ancestors and about them, also making sure that her destiny doesn't become a reality. She wants her to be with someone that is not her Destiny because she is power hungry. The women in the herd have special powers such as telekinesis, predicting the future and speaking with spirits. Throughout the book everyone tries to teach this to Camille but she just can't get it right, and the only thing she wants is to be able to communicate with her mother.

There is so much drama that happens in this book and it was exciting, sad and just too much fun to read. I read this book very quickly because it captured my attention from the very beginning with a book that wasn't about vampires or werewolves but something unique and different. The characters were strong and interesting. I couldn't put this one down.

The cover is also beautiful and ethereal I can completely picture Camille looking like that and the background is perfect with the Centaur history being connected to the stars. I can't gush enough about this book seriously and Drake sounds adorable.

I cannot thank Nancy Straight, the author of this amazing book, for allowing me to review it. From the moment I read the first word until the last I was completely and utterly hooked. Cami is fighting a uphill battle. Ever since she met her father her world has turned upside down. She is told she is a being with unknown powers. A Centauride. A female Centaur. Yes, as in the half man half horse.

Cami thinks all her new family need to be sent off to the loony bin or maybe herself for actually starting to believe it. It isn’t long before she realizes that they are not joking and her mother left a lot to be desired. Cami’s mother’s past is revealed showing how horrible her life was before she ran away and how deranged her grandmother is.

Only 20% of the Centaur are female and so every eligible Centaur from the age of 18-29 want to meet her. Centaur men are no longer a “good” catch after the age of 30 and have to settle for humans, which is not favored.

Gretchen, Cami’s stepmother, wants to bring Cami’s power to light. For almost a week they work together to see what her powers are. During this time one of her five brothers, Bruce, gets married. Centaur are very old fashion. Dates are not permitted unless you have an escort and you do not date unless you a betrothed.

During the nuptials she literally stumbles upon Drake. He saved her on multiple occasions even though its not his right. But the moment he laid eyes on Cami he knew she was supposed to belong to him. Too bad he is engaged and its to the woman who will eventually become Cami's best friend.

Honestly I could go on about this book and really I’ve only touch the tip of the iceberg but all I have to say is you HAVE to read it!!! Its truly AMAZING! You won’t be disappointed.

Book 2, Blood Ties cant come out fast enough! is it December yet?????

I highly recommend this to EVERYONE!!!!

I was a bit hesitant the first time I saw this but eventually I decided to give it a shot – and I’m so glad I did. Nancy Straight has brought something wonderfully refreshing to the YA market. Angels, demons, vampires, werewolves? Faeries or mermaids? You can temporarily put them to the back of your mind while you read about centaurs instead.

Camille has never known her father, though not for lack of trying. Her entire life her mother refused to say much about him but on her deathbed, she finally gives Camille some information – a way to contact him. It’s not long before she finds herself at her father’s house, meeting an entire family she never knew existed, but being welcomed with open arms. But despite the seemingly pleasant, ordinary surface, Camille learns that not only is she a centaur with magic in her blood, she is expected to pay a blood debt for her mother’s mistakes. And that’s only the start of her problems.

I have to say, I haven’t read much of centaurs. I think the only time I’ve come across them is in the Partholon series by P.C. Cast (I miss you, ClanFintan! *sighs dreamily*). I was a little bit worried that the book wouldn’t manage to live up to the novelty of a different genre, but that concern did disappear after a while. I enjoyed learning about some of the customs the centaurs had and how they came to be. The author also included a couple of twists, taking a basic preconception of what a centaur is, claiming that it’s wrong and then twisting it again. Something I would have liked to see is more about centaurs generally – the book focuses primarily on their ideas regarding marriage and relationships, and I think it would have been really interesting to learn about other aspects of their lives.

Cami was a strong character, which really appealed to me. Let me tell you, if this girl thinks something is wrong, she absolutely refuses to go through with it. It takes a lot to break her. She knows how to stand up for herself, something I seriously appreciate in people and characters. She was also a little cautious when it came to her new family’s reception of her, although I think she was quite quick to shake off that caution. That reception, too, was something I found quite unbelievable. Secrets or not, I find it very hard to accept that an entire family could be that happy with finding out there’s another of them. A question was raised as to Cami’s father’s wife, and it was never really answered, so I hope to see that answer in the sequel.

I really liked Bianca and Drake; they were both full of integrity and Bianca especially surprised me in her total lack of ill-feeling towards Cami. When I first met her I was a little suspicious, but then they became best friends and reading from her perspective showed her to be a truly sweet character. The guy she was in love with also surprised me, although I think the delivery of that knowledge in the writing could have been much more effective. Drake was really sweet too. In fact, most of these characters – Biance, Drake, Gage, Cami’s new brothers – really had me warming to them.

Zandra, however. Zandra is another story. I won’t say exactly who she is, in case it’s a spoiler, but what I will say is that she. Was. Evil. I absolutely could not believe what. On earth. She was doing. She made me angry, she had me gasping in horror, she just...ugh. I just...I can’t. And then after all that, when Cami made a dismissive remark about her, all I could think was, ‘Are you crazy? Where have you just been?’ She was a little stupid there.

Overall, this was a really enjoyable book. I had some issues with the writing itself, there were a few grammatical errors and the POVs sounded quite similar, but in terms of the ideas and characterisation this was a pleasure to read. The ending is perfectly ended for a sequel, and I can’t wait to see where the author takes this further.

I think I have found my new favorite paranormal subject! I have never read any book that revolves around Centaurs or even deals with their myths. Nancy stepped into uncharted territory with this book and built a fascinating and compelling world. This book is a refreshing change from all of the vampires and werewolves that are running amok in the literary world. Blood Debt will easily find a place among favorites in the paranormal romance and fantasy genres.
Nancy did a wonderful job creating a believable and mythologically accurate history of the centaurian race. Not to mention intriguing--these blood lines are full of secrets. I enjoyed the chivalrous manner of all the men and the fact that the female centaurs are actually the most revered.
I was hooked by Camille's story and instantly drawn to her character. I liked her more and more as the story progressed. All though, at times I was frustrated with her for not trying as hard as she could have. She seems to give up too soon--like when trying to learn how to contact her mother. However, she is a strong character and acclimates quickly to her new life. And OH! the romance! So sweet and perfect. Instead of a cliche love triangle, the love in this book is more like a square. I am a huge fan of Drake. I am always a sucker for 'destined love' and Nancy does such an amazing job at writing the romance between her characters.
Blood Debt also holds an air of mystery about it and readers are in store for some shocking events. I was on the edge of seat towards the end of this book. I can not wait for the sequel!
I HIGHLY recommend reading this book to any paranormal romance fans, teen or adult.
Nancy Straight is an AMAZING author and you do not want to miss out on Blood Debt!

Wow! I don't even have words to describe how much I loved this book. I've read the first one of Nancy's Destiny series and while I liked it..it really didn't wow me. This one BLEW ME AWAY.

First of all...CENTAURS? How awesome is that? No vampires or werewolves in sight. It was very refreshing and Nancy did a wonderful job of creating the history of the race.

I don't often come across books that revolve around centaurs. In fact, if I'm being honest, I've only read one book that had a centaur in it. I honestly don't know why more authors don't approach the other mythical beings that are out there as apposed to writing about the holy trinity of supernatural beings... you know what I'm talking about... vampires, werewolves and angels. I loved the take that the author had about centaurs. They are not the mythical creatures that I grew up knowing. They do...more I don't often come across books that revolve around centaurs. In fact, if I'm being honest, I've only read one book that had a centaur in it. I honestly don't know why more authors don't approach the other mythical beings that are out there as apposed to writing about the holy trinity of supernatural beings... you know what I'm talking about... vampires, werewolves and angels. I loved the take that the author had about centaurs. They are not the mythical creatures that I grew up knowing. They don't have four legs or a horse body. In fact they have a humans body but with super speed, strength and special powers.

Camille is (in my opinion) a great protagonist. She is strong willed and very loyal. When she goes to see her father, she is met with five bothers that she didn't know existed. All of them embrace her with open arms and welcome her to the family. In fact the entire family welcomes her, including the wife/mother who was cheated on when Camille's mother and father had the affair. Even though she's immediately accepted into the family, there is still a lot she needs to learn about being a centaur. Sure she has some blunders in the beginning but she is quick to pick up on it.

I must say that the love interest in this story was interesting. The whole concept of a female choosing a male and their bond being inseparable unless by death was interesting. Excepte it posed a huge mystery on how Camille came about. Apparently centaurs are not able to conceive out of wedlock. Not only that but then there is this whole fiance shuffle when Camille is betrothed to a centaur that she doesn't want to marry but the centaur she does like is betrothed to her best friend. It definitely made the story interesting. Either way I need to know what happens next. There is something going on with Camille's best friend, Daniel, from California but no one says what it is. Other than he knows that he can't be with Camille and that she's a centaur but all I can yell is "WHY?!". Not to mention the ending that you are left with makes me want to pick up the next book in the story to figure out what happens next.

The characters and plot of this book really drew me in. My boyfriend had to keep stopping Dead Space 2 to ask me: a) what was so funny, b) why I was so upset, and then eventually c) what was going on because now he was curious!

I really liked the love triangle(ish), the chemistry between characters (love big brothers!), the magic powers, and the legends behind Centaurs. This author definitely had a different take on it, but she had created an entire world filled with history, mixed with Greek God...more

This book was awesome, with a nice writing style, an original story and an awesome lead character.

The story had me hooked immediately, no long introduction but it also didn't feel rushed. The writing style flows nice and fits the story perfectly. There were quickly some hints that not all was as normal as the lead character suspected, but we didn't have to wait too long or toos hort for the big revelation. It was just at the perfect moment. The first half of the book I enjoyed more than the second half, there was more happening and I liked getting introduced to the story and the world. Certain events that happened make sure the second half was less action full and even though I still enjoyed it I didn't love it as much as the first half. That's why I would like to give the story 4.5 stars, but I decided to round it up to 5.

The characters is a point about whcih I am a bit conflicted. I loved the main character, she was awesome, she was strong and stubborn and fighted for what she believed in and was never afraid to voice her opinion. Although she also learned when to shut her mouth, because that would land her in problems. I liked how she dealt with everything that happened. The other characters on the other hand were mostly just as awesome, but in my opinion we learn too less about who they really are. I think one of the reasons for this is that there are a lot of characters and there just isn't time or palce to get to know them all. I did like most of the character we were introduced to, but I just would've liked really getting to know them better.

The world building in this book is really well done, not too much or too fast, but at the perfect pace. There are enough answers, but there also remain enough question to look forward to the next book. I love the world building, because it's so original and I liked the fact that all the myth relevant to this story actually are explained (because I know almost nothing about myths).

To conclude: I rally enjoyed this book, the first half of the story was better than the second half, but I still enjoyed the whole book. I loved the main character, she really is an awesome main character. I also liked the world building and the perfect pace in which we got answers. Also at the end there are still so many questions left and I can't wait to read the next book.(less)

Oh my goodness where to start. It's always difficult for me to review without giving away too much plot. But here goes...
Blood Debt is a roller coaster ride that had me yelling "NOOOOO!" only to turn around by the end to cheer.

Another great series by Nancy Straight! I knew she wouldn't disappoint. I loved the unique storyline with Cami learning of her Centaur history and the extreme power that women in general, and her in particular, wield in their community. If you have read my reviews then it is pretty obvious by now that I enjoy stories that defy the norm and go one step ahead. Lately, I have had the pleasure to read many that enthralled me completely and Blood Debt is not the exception.

I loved that this book took a different route and tried out a new magical creature. I wasn't sure how the centaur thing would work out, but the author did a great job creating a new mythology for centaurs that was still based in the original myths.

Camille was a great heroine, very strong and capable. I had one issue with her, however. In some ways, she was able to adapt to her new reality admirably. In others, she was ridiculously stubborn. It was about the centaur courtship in particular. She openly bashed their ways of courtships several times and that really annoyed me. With centaurs, there is are much more males than females, so, in their tradition, the woman is allowed to choose any man she wants and that decision is rarely refuted. Young centaurs are eligible for marriage between the ages of 18 and 29. Now, this is different from the way we do things today, but it's what the tradition with centaurs is. Camille berated the custom several times in a way that was somewhat offensive, considering she was speaking to centaurs who wholeheartedly believe in that tradition. It just seemed really rude to me that she openly insulted their custom. Repeatedly. And this happened with other centaur customs but the courtship thing seemed to be the biggest issue. I don't think that kind of behavior was warranted and it really irritated me.

Don't get me wrong, I didn't dislike Camille. That particular issue bothered me but, otherwise, she was a great heroine. She showed a lot of strength and, in the end, I really liked her.

Drake was such a sweet guy. He was a very loyal man who would do anything to protect his loved ones. I wish there had been more of him in the book because I didn't feel like I really got to know his character. But, from what I did see, I adored him.

The romance in this book was very sweet. I wish I had gotten to see more development with it, because I didn't feel like Camille and Drake got to know each other well enough to be in love. But, it wasn't really an insta-love issue, so that didn't bother me too much. I really liked the two of them together and I definitely rooting for them to get a happy ending.

The plot was fast paced. There were several surprises in store. And the ending had me anxious to find out what happens next.

For those who like YA paranormal romance, Blood Debt was a great read. You should definitely give it a try.

The only word that I can use to describe this book is INCREDIBLE (yes, all caps is needed). I must say that this is my favorite book that I have reviewed so far. It begins with Camille (main character) learning who her father is from her dying mother after 22 years of not knowing. Camille finally calls her father and finds herself flying across the country to meet him and the rest of her family. Little does she know, she will learn of her very unique heritage and the danger she will have to face in the coming weeks.

Camille finds out that she is a Centaur with a powerful bloodline. First, I should say this was very interesting to me because I have never read a book that uses centaurs. It is quite refreshing to get away from the vampires and werewolves I find myself reading. Anyway… While Camille is learning the many “rules” of being a Centaur, she also learns that she must choose a Centaur to be her husband and soon. But, of course, the perfect guy has to be betrothed to someone else. Camille meets Drake at her brother’s wedding and will learn later just how much she loves him.

Before Camille can really give Drake a chance, she is kidnapped by her grandmother to be obedient and learn her heritage and magic. Sure, everyone thinks grandmother, she’ll be nice……..Um no. This woman is EVIL. No one should hate anyone of course but if she were my grandmother it would be very close to HATE. At several points during her stay with her grandmother, Camille shows too much disobedience and her CRAZY grandmother puts a magical necklace on her that shocks her and harms her. It’s even hard for me to read about.

Camille eventually finds herself engaged… but there is plans in making to help her escape and be free to be with Drake even if they are on the run to find the history behind their heritage. But will their relationship last? That I can’t tell you because I haven’t read it yet, so I await book 2 (less)

All the guys in here are awesome.. absolute swoon worthy in every way. Gorgeous, polite, strong and funny. I agreed with Cami that it felt too good to be true that every guy there could be that perfect... but I'll take it. May I introduce you to one of the best fictional male characters of all time? Drum roll...... Drake Nash. Oh yes my friends, he is intoxicating, inviting and completely worthy of droll. The chemistry between Cami and Drake was on the level of a nuclear explosion. My eyes kept popping out of my head while reading scenes between the two. Their relationship was credible and mesmerizing. The tremendous ensemble cast made this an easy read. Cami was snide yet soft, temperamental yet collected.

As we follow Cami on her journey to find her new found father, we get the most pleasant discovery of her five, yes five FABULOUS brothers. I want in that family! She really did hit the lottery with her family and it makes what happens later even more heartbreaking. Sorry, can't tell you more without being a major spoiler!

My few nit picks: the opening sentence structure is repetitive in spots. Seeing sentences start over and over with the same word (such as I, I, I or her, her, her) is distracting to me. Fortunately those spots are scattered and not numerous. The other is lack of information on Daniel, Cami's best friend from California. I felt that we did not get to know him at all. However, I think she may be saving him for a big story plot in book two so I'll call that a draw. There was a moment where I was yelling at Cami crying out that she was blind.. especially the gotcha scene. My last complaint is how defeated she is during the last half of the book. She is an in-you-face, don't-back-down personality. That she lets a locked door and a couple big dudes stop her was a bit of a let down. For some reason I thought she would be more resourceful.

The last couple of scenes made me stop in search of my tissue box. Honestly, you'd think I'd learn to keep some next to me while reading by now. Anyway, I digress. Straight was masterful at focusing my attention on the story line, the scenes' tension and the character's emotions. She wrote some awesome one liners too.

Bianca was such a tremendously gracious friend and a little spitfire. I hope to see more of her in book two. Will and Gretchen were interesting and engaging characters. Blood Debt had twists, turns, jaw droppers, snort inducing laughs, tear jerking scenes and sizzling hot moments. With an evil, power hungry grandmother, a slew of hot guys, mythological intrigue and crazy family drama you have the perfect mix to an amazing series.

The next installment in the series, Centaur Legacy (Touched, #2) can NOT come get in my hot little hands fast enough! Seriously, you really NEED to read this!

PS- though rated YA, with the main characters all in their early twenties I would rate this NA (New Adult). But its still appropriate for 15 and up.(less)

Anyway, all is quiet now (FINALLY) so I thought I'd jot down my review of Nancy Straight's Blood Debt!

Okay, so I'm perusing this tour request I received and saw the word "Centaur" and I'm thinking, hmmmmm? A book about half-men/half-horses...no freaking way. Right? But then I thought, if anyone can pull this off, it's Nancy because I've read many of her other books and they are all amazing. Needless to say, she managed to pull this one off perfectly and there weren't even any hooved men stomping about.

The first thing that pulled me into the book was Camille's friend Daniel. A little weird since he was far from the main character, I know, but something tells me Daniel's a little more than just Camille's best friend. As of this moment, I know nothing more, but I'll keep you updated. HeHe.

So, Camille's mom, Angela, is a powerful Centauride who escaped a horrific fate and managed to keep Camille hidden from the most influential Centaur Herds. Angela only told Camille her father's name on her death bed, leaving Camille alone to search for a man she had never met. Once Camille and her father meet the secrets start flying. Can you imagine not only finding out you are of a magical race, but because of something your mom did, you owe a blood debt to another family? No thank you.

I loved the matriarchal society that the Centaurs revolved around, though there are many things about their lives I disagreed with and hopefully Camille will resolve some of these issues. But I must say, the most impressive thing is how the author managed to keep up with all Camille's half-brothers. Each of their names started with a B and each seemed swoon-worthy in their own way. I'm wishing them all the best of luck in the coming years, because I think they all deserve a good mate.

And Drake...OH YUMMY!!! He's amazing and kind and courteous and good. I love the way his and Camille's story is woven together and how many obstacles they each have to overcome in order to try to be together, and that's still up in the air. Still! Bianca and Gage are interesting characters and I cannot wait to know more about Gage and his family. Some things pulled together, but as with every well written series, some questions were answered while others were presented.

The only thing that kept me from giving the book a complete 5 stars is the frequent changing of POVs. Usually this is not a problem for me, but when you get more than two or three going at the same time, I tend to get confused and have to go back and reread things to make sure I understand who is saying what.

Nancy takes different mythologies and mixes them all together to create a fascinating, spell-binding, and nail-biting novel. I'm still rocking on the edge of my chair after that ending. She attacks political and social issues in an interesting manner and keeps your brain thinking far after the last page has been turned. First, I've gotta say... it had Greek mythology in it (which I absolutely love... I wanna minor in anthropology because of it)... BUT it was quite a different angle used for it. I don't think I've ever read a book about the Centaurs in Greek mythology, nor have I ever wondered of they had created human-like offspring... Which was awesome.

This book is about twenty-two year old Camille Benning (changed to Strayer, then Chiron) whose mother has just died. Camille has always lived without her father, consistently asking her mother about him, and always getting a non-answer. Finally, right before her mother, Angela, dies she tells Camille her father's name and where he lives.

Camille does a background check on him before finally calling him, and she's slightly surprised that he sounds excited about a long lost daughter (really, long unknown daughter), and that his wife will be seemingly happy. Camille gets to William's (her father) home state and is surprised to find out that she has five older half-brothers. She's also completely surprised to find out that William is loaded.

Now that she's got the perfect family, something doesn't seem all that right. She keeps wondering if she's just walked into a cult-like family, but that isn't it. But, what she does find out completely changes her life... for the better, or worst.

I liked Camille's spunky attitude it made me want to be friends with her, just so that she could be my outside, funny shield-type person. I really liked how she interacted with everybody; it seemed more teenager than anything, so I kind of understood her more.

All of these centaur guys... GAH! They're like the type that you can tell are over-chivalrousness, and it would get all of your nerves sometimes, but other times it would be the perfect thing.

What I don't like about the centaur society, though, is that they're so DEMANDING. You have to do what they want, and only what they want, or they think you're performing some type of taboo.

So... I LOVED this book, and I want MORE of it!! It did end on a cliffhanger, but it wasn't such a bad one that I was reading to go off the crazy cliff for the next book. This book most obviously got a perfect score of five for all of the reasons listed ^^above. :)(less)

Ana: What a unique story! I have never read anything about Centaurs and I wasn’t sure what to expect. What I got was a very well crafted world filled with intriguing characters. Centaurs live amongst regular humans but their rules and traditions couldn’t be more different than what we’re used to. Camille has no idea that she’s a part of this world until her mother passes away and, just before her death, reveals father’s name. This is where her adventure begins and where we start to learn more about this unusual world and the people who count themselves as Camille’s family. That is the main story…Cami finding her family and discovering the Centaur world. But the sub-stories are intriguing as well. There’s an evil grandmother who you’ll love to hate, 5 brothers who you love to love, many Centaur men who want to win Cami’s heart and marry her as quickly as possible, and a situation amongst friends that has both happy and sad repercussions. The characters are unique and each has their own clear voice and reason for being. Everyone adds something to the story. Although I would have loved to have seen more magic in this book because it intrigues me, it didn’t diminish my enjoyment of it at all. Overall, it is a great read and the ending definitely leaves me wanting more!

During a single phone call, she’s elated to learn that he wants everything to do with being her dad and wants to meet her immediately. Flying across country from California to North Carolina, Camille soon learns that not only does she have a step-mother and five brothers, but that her bloodline- both her mother’s and her father’s- has been touched by the gods, particularly Zeus.

From the very beginning, I was drawn in to the world and the customs and traditions of these mythical beings that live among ordinary people. Every aspect of a good book is thrown at you in this story, but it’s not overwhelming and the pacing is spot on to keep you turning the pages. Though it was a quick read and a well-rounded story with plenty of explanations, I would’ve appreciate more depth and time among the other Centaur families and learning more about the Strayer family history. I suppose I’ll have to wait for the rest of the series to have all the answers to my questions, and I can’t wait to have more time with Camille and Drake. I look forward to seeing where this series goes from here; the possibilities are endless.(less)

Blood Debt is an amazing well written story that will leave you breathless and wanting more! I’m a huge of Greek mythology fan and this book is so unique and fascinating. What amazed me the most was the amount of depth and emotion this book has. Blood Debt is my first centaur book. The story follows Camille, or Cami as she preferred to be called. I really liked her. She was strong and independent but she had a tendency to be kind of rude through her stubbornness. I get that she doesn't like the ways and the customs of the centaurs but I thought she could have at least been a little more understanding. Her family was nothing but nice, warm and welcoming to her, and they never tried to force her into anything that she didn't want. I just thought she could have tried a little harder to be ok with things, or at least to not sound so rude in her refusals. But other than that I didn't have any problems with her. I liked her and I loved Drake. There was just something about him. He seems so pure and good. I had to stop reading for a while because of something that Camille's grandmother did to him in the book because I liked him so much.

I think that I would be an awesome centaur. I love how powerful women are in their society. They are really the ones that call a lot of the shots. They get to pick their husband out of tons of eligible guys and the guys are all tripping over themselves to get picked by a female centaur to continue on their family bloodline. There are way, way more men than their are women in centaur society. Plus the girls get all the cool gifts. I would be a little freaked out by all the mind reading and future seeing going on if I were Cami.

Blood Debt is such an awesome concept. Fans of YA paranormal romances need to check out this series. And the best part is that the second book is coming out pretty soon, I think. So not a ton of wait time inbetween books. Personally, I want the second book right now because I need to see what on earth is going on with Cami's friend Daniel from back home. I feel like there is something big there that we just don't have all the pieces to yet. Plus all of this Lost Herd business. I am dying to find out! Such a great book, it exceeded all of my expectations. (less)
