"Nine-Three-One-One-One-Seventy-Five-Seventy Seven."
These were the same numbers that New York taxi cab driver, Adrian Colfax heard himself mumbling each time he drifted in and out of consciousness. But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't remember what they meant and why they were continuously on his mind. At 1:01 a.m. he ventured inside Java Cove, a coffee shop he used to frequent every night for a cup of joe back when he was a cabdriver in Manhattan. Back when he was working through the ni...more

Gee I enjoyed reading this story. I so wish it was a full length novel.
This is the fourth of the 7 Hour series that I've read and Pawlik approached it quite differently from the other authors. As an aside, I understand all 7 authors met and consulted on each other's stories to ensure different approaches to the concept. Yes, Pawlik deals with the idea of changing the past, hence, the title, however, I particularly liked Thomas Constant's expanded role in this one. And for the first time, I had s...more

Tom Pawlick takes an interesting angle on Mr Constant's offer to relive seven hours of life, put death off by seven hours, or to pass on either offer. The story begins with the protagonist, Adrian, who finds himself sixty years younger and not sure how or why. The reader takes an increasingly intense ride with Adrian as he struggles to figure it all out.
Overall, I really enjoyed the story. A couple of things didn't quite sit well with me, though. The palm reader made me uncomfortable. That is p...more
Have you ever wondered about what you would do if you were given only seven hours to change something in your life? What would you go back and change? Would it make your life better? Would it make it worse? Would you find redemption or only bring yourself more agony? Seven authors set out to tell seven unique stories of seven people who were faced with such a choice. Recollection is one of these seven stories, written by Tom Pawlik.

I particularly enjoyed this instalment in the 7 Hours series. Tom Pawlik adds an extra level of mystery as we find our character Adrian Colfax waking up in the past with little to no memory of Thomas Constant or the deal he has made. This is explained because Adrian has travelled so far back, from the point of his death as an old man. Adrian begins to understand that there is something very important that he has to prevent here in the past, but he cannot remember what it is. The mysterious numbe...more
This book really made me think. If I had the chance to go back and change one thing in my life, would I do it? What would be different in my life if I did change things? Tom Pawlik did an excellent job with this novella. I can't wait to see what the other authors did with the idea.
THought provoking and brilliantly laid out, this free read is definitely worth checking out. I could not put it down.
