The last person that Cameron wanted to occupy his next door summer cottage was Anna. He remembered her as a ten year old girl who was bossy and cannot sit still long. He liked his life laid-back and mellow and hoped that Anna wont ruin that.

This was just a light read with a heavy dose of humorous banters.

"I'm going to walk. I just don't know which direction to walk in."
"It's three miles. One way. And in those shoes, I'm surprised you made it to the dock without breaking both your ankles."
"I do

3-stars. Oh, how I wanted to love this one! Alas, this was more frustrating than entertaining, but it did pull out a redeemable last half. The story itself was too weak for my enjoyment, but Slow Summer Kisses did have some good moments that made it worth finishing.

Shannon Stacey is such a talented author, which is why this book isn’t getting just 2-stars from me. She has a way of writing some great scenes and dialogue between her H/h that are captivating and fresh, a talent that does set her a...more

Slow Summer Kisses by Shannon Stacey
Cameron Mayfield lived at the camp in New Hampshire year round. He enjoyed his cable TV, drinking beer at the end of his dock and sleeping and eating. He had promised Jim Frasier, the neighbor with the cmap next door that he'd look after his granddaughter Anna while she was there.
Anna Frasier had worked in NY, finance district but she was downsized out of a job and now at her grandparents cabin in the woods. Man next door had helped to bring in her luggage but...more

I swear, I spend as much time reading Shannon Stacey's books as I do searching tumblr for the perfect mental cast. She writes strong, career-oriented women and sexy, well-mannered men who love and support them. What's not to love?

Cameron Mayfield is a guy who gave up his fast-paced, stressful career as a lawyer to live at his family's cabin working odd jobs to pay the bills. Anna Frazier is his new old neighbor, someone who used to visit her family's cabin next door to his until she was 10, who...more

Anna Frazier thought her life was over after losing her job due to downsizing. With no way to pay the rent on her enormous, city apartment, Anna takes her Grandparents up on their offer to use their summer cottage until she can get back on her feet. Anna was not used to life in the slow lane. Thankfully, she knew her situation was only temporary, just until she found a new job. Anna didn’t count on finding Cameron instead.
Cameron Mayfield had seen enough of life in the fast lane. He didn’t wan...more

Why I read it: I'm a fan of Shannon Stacey's Kowalski series. I think she writes really good, fun, sexy contemporaries. I picked this one up at NetGalley in the Editor's Choice Vol 1 edition. I'm not sure if/when I'll get to the other stories - the main reason for my interest was this novella.

What it's about: (from Goodreads) Anna Frazier is used to living life at 100 mph, but being downsized out of a job in the financial industry has her permanently stalled. With nowhere to go, go, go, Anna hai...more

I enjoyed this novella. I'm a big fan of "opposites attract" stories, and Slow Summer Kisses has a hero who's a Red Sox fan and a heroine who's a Yankees fan. Cam likes the simpler things in life and is kind of a grump sometimes (although there's more to him than that). Anna had a high-powered finance career and loves making lists. Anna ends up at her grandparents' lake house after losing her job, and she's intrigued by her surly yet helpful (and hot) neighbor. She's trying to relax, but being a...more

My Review:

I just adore the way that Shannon Stacey writes contemporary romance and this book is no exception. This story is fun and heartwarming and I found it highly entertaining.

Anna is high-strung, high-stressed, and entirely too uptight to fit in to the relaxed atmosphere of lake life. She lives by the never-ending to-do lists on her fridge and ever-present cell phone.

Cam has lived on the lake for 4 years and embraces the lifestyle in full. He's okay just sitting on the dock for hours on en...more

I love Ms Stacey's Kowalski series. This novella is, to me, not as good as them but close. SSK is a fairly quick read and the H/H have good chemistry. There aren't very many secondary characters in this story but Cam and Anna carry the story well. At first I thought Cam was a real jerk, but he quickly saw the real person in Anna and things progressed. I could understand Anna's high-strung spirit because I've been in the fast paced business world and suddenly had to stop or slow down to...more

SLOW SUMMER KISSES is one of those books that you can read in a couple hours and move on with your life. As a novella, it had everything it need and the length was over a 150 pages, so it has enough meat for a decent storyline. The romance part was lacking and was skimmed over too much once Cam and Anna actually did get together.

As kids, Cameron Mayfield remembers Anna Frazier as being bossy, talkative and always on the move. When her grandfather asks him to look after her while she’s staying i...more

I will read anything and everything Shannon Stacey writes, so when I saw that she had a novella in the new Carina Press Editors Choice Anthology, I got my hands on it as soon as I possibly could.

Anna lost her high dollar job in the big city after the downturn in the economy. While in the process of discovering what to do next, she goes to her grandparents lakeside house to figure things out. No only did she never expect to se...more

{This review originally appeared on Clear Eyes, Full Shelves.}

Can a Red Sox fan and a Yankees fan see past their differences and fall in love? Unbelievable or not, in the world of Shannon Stacey’s Slow Summer Kisses, this is entirely possible.

Few writers can entice me to read a short story. Shannon Stacey is one of those few.

She expertly translates her trademark believable—and likeable—characters and fresh, contemporary writing style in the short story/novella form. I’ve read and enjoyed her pr...more

I love Shannon Stacey, so is it any wonder I pre-ordered this and read it the day it was released? Shannon's novels feature characters who cause enough friction with each other to worry Smokey Bear.

Cameron's a man who saw his father work himself to death and figured out he was on the same track. He figured out a way to step off the career conveyor belt and can now make chillaxing an Olympic sport. Anna feels a constant terrible need to succeed and she can't survived without dozens of to-do lists...more

This was such a sweet little novella.

Cameron Mayfield escaped the hustle and bustle of his busy, big city life just in time, to save his sanity and his health. He's made his home in a New Hampshire camp that most people use for their summer homes. Staying busy doing carpentry and manual labor. This suits him perfectly. That is until Anna Frazier comes to stay. She drove him crazy when she was 10 and he was 12. As children they were thrown together often over the summers. He remembers Anna as pu...more

I have to commend Shannon Stacey on writing what felt like a full length novel in 25,000 words. Usually when I'm reading novella's, I'm left wanting so much more from the characters, from the story but I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this story. I read the entire thing in one sitting and had a smile on my face the entire time.

This story follows Anna Frazier as she settles into her grandparents camp to learn how to relax. She was recently let go from her big finance job and she's...more

a sweet little story...not as good as the kowalski series though..

I didn't feel any real chemistry between the main characters..its still a good read though even without the both funny and sweet banter I was expecting and hoping for

I felt the "hate to love" aspect of this one didn't really work. Anna irritated me, and so did Cam. She, because she was type A to the point of it being absurd. He, because he kept thinking of her in such completely sexist ways I have notes all over my Kindle with giant !!!!s next to them.

I'm sure a lot of people will enjoy this quick, well-paced summertime read. Stacey has a great sense of ambiance and I will try other books by her in the future, but I just couldn't engage with this couple. Th...more

3.5 stars, but it close to 4 stars I think.

So, I did this: reading a lot of books in this Eid Mubarak holiday, and this is one of them.
Previously, I've read Shannon Stacey's Holiday Sparks and I thought this book would be similar to that one. and it apparently turned out to be true.

Nothing surprised me, but I love Shannon Stacey's writing because it left a warm feeling in my heart after finished reading her books.

For a short read in a holiday mood, the book is worth to read.

I really enjoy Stacey's contemporary novels. She has a good blend of humor and wit that really draws the reader in.

I loved how prickly they both were with each other. Cameron was happy with his life, which really came through. I loved what a guy he was. The baseball stuff was hilarious, too, and had me snickering out loud.

I also liked how the resolution of the main conflict came about. Too often we see one person give up everything and that wouldn't have worked here. I'm glad Stacey took it in...more

I fell in love with Shannon Stacey's writing in Yours to Keep, the third in the Kowalski Family series. She had me hooked once again in this short and sweet novella.

From the beginning, I really enjoyed Anna's character. She was high-strung, but lovable and friendly. She was a breath of fresh air to Cam's brooding, and I thought they balanced each other really well.

If you've never read any of Shannon's books, this would be a great starter book. It's a fast read with the swoons, the delicious sexy...more

As usual, Stacey writes snappy dialog that makes me laugh out loud and creates characters - heroes especially - who feel so real I'd swear she was borrowing people from my life to populate her books. Unfortunately, this story didn't really grab me like hers usually do. I don't know if it was the shorter length or what, but I felt hurried along and like I was missing out on their romance developing.

Not bad, but it's not my favorite of hers, much as I wanted to love "my" story with the Sox-Yankees...more

Anna has recently lost her high-powered job in the financial industry and is feeling somewhat lost as her fast paced life style has suddenly come to screeching halt. She’s used to working long, hard hours at break neck speed. Now that she’s unemployed she decides to take some time to regroup and relax at her grandparents camp on the lake while she plans her next career move. (It’s called a camp, but it’s a house on the lake so don’t picture a tent and porta-potty l...more

Love love love Shannon Stacey's books. The banter, the humor, the very understated angst. Along with the sense of family. Even though this one focused almost exclusively on Cam and Anna, she still managed to convey the closeness Anna felt to her grandparents and the sense of loss that Cam still felt about his dad.

And look out - a Yankees and Red Sox fan together for life? (Well, my parents managed - White Sox & Cubs fans).

A perfect, quick summer read! I’m becoming a big fan of Shannon Stacey’s. I feel like I must have gone to summer camp or shared a week at the cabin with her. She writes these settings so impeccably. (Also see Exclusively Yours.) It brings back memories of my childhood camp days and makes me want to jump in the car with my dog and family and head to the lake ASAP.

Great Summer Read! Slow Summer Kisses by Shannon Stacey was such a fun read; I couldn’t wipe the grin off my face as I read this book.

Cam and Anna spent a summer together as kids; Cam remembers Anna as the kid that annoyed the hell out of him. Fast-forward a few years and Cam learns that Anna is moving into the cabin next door while she evaluates her next career move and realizes that nothings changed she still annoys the hell out of him.

Cam with his laid...more

Shannon Stacey has become my auto-buy author when I'm looking for a new contemporary romance. I know that when I read a Shannon Stacey romance, I will get a great story, fantastic characters, and humor. Slow Summer Kisses did not disappoint.

This is an awesome summer read! It is light and sweet yet a little steamy, too. Cameron and Anna haven’t seen each other since they were kids. Cam lives next door to a house that Anna’s grandparents own. She decides to live there for a little relaxing while looking for another job, since her job was just cut. Cam has done the fast pasted city living and has decided that isn’t for him. Anna still enjoys the fast past city living and is a little bored out on the lake with nothing to keep her busy....more

What a great summer romance! I felt like I was right there with the characters! Anna and Cam seem to be very different, but are they really that different? They hook up when Anna comes to spend some time at her grandparents camp 'relaxing'...Cam lives there year round and intially doesn't know how he's going to be able to tolerate Anna! Anna is used to a fast paced, city living life...Cam, not so much! Can this be more than a brief summer fling? Loved this book! Love Cam!!
