When I first read the summary of the book I was intrigued. I love friends-to-lovers story, and I usually like Ms. Brown's stories so I figured I would like this one as well. Unfortunately that didn't seem to be the case.

Cyn's life hasn't turned out the way she dreamed. Her husband died two years ago, and now she lives with her widowed mother and her son. Nothing interesting happens to her. The only bright thing in her life (besides her son) is her best friend Wroth (who happened to be her husban

I like friend to lovers story and this fit this theme. The fact I appreciated the most was these two were truly best friends, joking about the hero's success with women, he being there for her when her husband and his best friend died and the best part was that both of them had never harboured feelings of more than friendship before they both take a trip out of town & are thrown in close proximity. This change of environment makes them see each other in a new light with both thinki
Originally published in 1989 under the 'Loveswept' label, A WHOLE NEW LIGHT takes the formulaic theme of a young widow getting involved with her deceased husband's best friend. Because there is some outdated material, my guess is those 35 years old and up would enjoy this romance the most. Or if you are a young 'old soul'.

Cynthia 'Cyn' McCall was contentedly married to Tim when her husband was tragically killed in an accident. Fast forward two years later and she is stuck in a rut. Her widowed m

My only problem with this funny, sexy book is that Cyn's husband had to die for these two to come together.

I laughed. I teared up a little. I marvelled at how absolutely BLIND Worth had been for YEARS!

This is a great read that is quick, a little predictable, but LOADS of fun!!

Felfoghatatlan.

Not bad... not GREAT. Very dated. Characters were well-written - but I thought Cyn was excessively unreasonably prudish and fussy. I also found it slightly hard to believe that Worth made the switch from sex-crazed playboy to the ultra-faithful super-dad in such a short time. I also found it hard to believe that two people who were truly, honestly JUST friends up until their trip to Acapulco would behave as these two did. They never behaved liked just friends. From the very beginning (when they ...more
This book tells the story of Cyn who lost her husband a couple years back. Her husband's best friend, Worth, takes her on a trip to Acapulco one weekend and they end up sleeping together.

The romance between Cyn and Worth was sweet. I am glad they got the ending that they did. I found their emotions and what they said to each other both realistic and endearing. They made me smile alot. There was a bit of tension between then after they slept together. Cyn felt like she was betraying her husband b

The blurb interested me and it was available from Digital Editions (library) and the title fit a challenge. The blurb of a friends to lovers, where the guy talks the woman into giving them a chance... not quite. She is a self righteous, prude. He knowing this eggs her insecurities on. They so don't belong lovers and after the total mistake, they shouldn't be friends anymore either. They are both idiots, and mean spirited.

So the very beginning of the book was looking up but her reaction started t

Nice, short and satisfying read. This is a story of two best friends (widow and confirmed bachelor) who came to see each other in a different light during their unplanned trip to Acapulco. The mixed emotions, reluctance and even guilt that they experienced when their feelings changed for each other were well portrayed. It was also interesting and kind of sad for me to revisit before 9/11 commercial flight experience.
A Whole New Light was a quick and pleasurable reading experience, but not one of Sandra Brown's more gripping or thought provoking books. Old friends, Cyn and Worth (hate the names!) go on a luxurious weekend together to Acapulco, as friends, but, of course, end up lovers. However, because of their friendship and shared history - Worth was Cyn's deceased husband's best friend and he's godparent to her son, Brandon - Cyn is filled with remorse at stepping beyond the bounds of their friendship for ...more
I love this book. It's been a long time since I read it, but there are a couple of scenes that stuck in my mind...I remember one about a dress...I think the zipper got stuck and ended up kind of ruining the mood. And the other was the dancing. I imagined what it would be like...the smell of the hibiscus, the lighting, the music...the conflicting feelings. I love it when I can just SEE everything as though I'm really there or have been there, and this book was very vivid for me. A must read if yo ...more
This book was my first from author Sandra Brown. And I was pleasantly pleased to have found a new romance author. This novel was a light-hearted romance that I finished in a couple of hours. It did not have any major weight of issues within, and it provided a great escape into a fun story.

The basic story revolves around Cyn and Worth, best friends from college back when Cyn was dating, then married, Worth's best friend Tim. The three friends seemed to do everything together, and Cyn and Worth's

#1 New York Times bestselling author Sandra Brown has long inspired readers to believe that life is full of wonderful possibilities. Here is one of her classic novels, an exquisite tale of longtime friends who have seen it all—and suddenly see each other in a whole new light.

Ever since losing her husband, Cyn McCall has counted on his business partner, Worth Lansing. Though a confirmed bachelor, Worth nonetheless proves himself to be a dependable friend and a father figure to her son. He makes

I have always had a soft spot for books about the Best Friends discovering that they have more feelings for each other than they originally thought. This story complicates that simple plot by adding a widow and a small child into the mix.
Wade is the very lovable bachlor that is fun to read about. He definatley made the story fly by. And his support of his best friend's widow makes him that much more endearing.
I admit that there could have been more complications to the story that just weren't

Aku suka banget A Whole New Light ini. Tema temen-jadi-demen gitu lho ... one of my favorite theme.

At

For me this was a quick and enjoyable read. I have a soft spot for romances with complications and misunderstandings and there are more than enough of both in this. All in all this was a bit too fluffy for my taste, though. I think, this novel felt a bit rushed, the characters work through all of the different steps of conflicts with each other, their feelings and other love interests really fast, and there were many stories going on in the background th
I loved this book. I usually reserve my audiobooks for when I am doing household chores, but I was so engrossed in this book I listened to it every chance I got. It was a short audiobook, 5 hours, and I finished it within 2 days. The narrator was great, and a joy to listen to. Narrators can make or break a book, but if the book is not good to begin with than no narrator can make it enjoyable. I think this is one book that you would like to either read or listen to equally. The story flowed easil ...more

I think this is the first friends-turn-lover story I've ever read. And I like it. It feels so sweet to have your friend as a lover, and eventually your husband/wife. The book is really funny, too. I like their verbal sparring. And when they struggle with the dynamic of their relationship, I laugh out loud. They're like children who interested in the opposite sex but too shy and stubborn to admit it. So cute.
This book was a cute book with the theme of be careful what you wish for. Cyn, a widow for 2 years, while eating breakfast with her son and mother made the off hand remark that she wished her life would become more exciting. That day after a bad day at work she stops by her best friend's house, also her dead husband's best friend, to vent and unload. Worth happens to have tickets to Mexico for the weekend, the woman he was supposed to go with had to cancel at the last minute. He managed to talk ...more
Lucu dialognya, sempat ngakak di beberapa scene, pas worth kram pdhal lagi "panas2-nya", ketika worth begitu gak macho krn gak bisa menggunakan blender baru nya, dan ketika jam tangan worth nyangkut di baju cyn, bagus nich novel, gak muluk2, mgk ini kejadian yang biasa terjadi dalam dunia nyata, hihihi... sayang novelnya tipis, tp enjoy baca nya.
Sandra Brown is the best... ^ ^

You are so lucky when you get your best(boy)friend to be your husband:) tapi kalo di novel ini karakter dari sang heroine-nya begitu menyebalkan (gw lagi sensi banget, susah utk dipuaskan) padahal jelas2 sang hero sdh berusaha utk meyakinkan kalo dia mau berkomitmen tapi sang heroine-nya "menyeh2" ndak jelas...akhirnya jadi makan hati sendiri waktu sang hero gandeng yang lain..

Cynthis McCall is a widower of over two years who is raising a young son. Worth Lansing is Cynthia and her late husband (Tim) closest friend and was also Tim's business partner as well as a very handsome notorious bachelor. Cynthia has been in a terrible rut since her husband's demise and is searching for something/someone to shake things up. When she decides to meet Worth for a drink, he surprises her with two tickets to Acapulco for the weekend which his date previously cancelled on him and ha ...more
I have no idea how to rate this book. As I mentioned earlier, I don't read romance novels. I found the story to be completely predictable and the situation absurd. That said, I flew through the book in 2 days so it obviously held my interest. In some ways, it was like junk food, you know it is bad for you but you can't stop eating it.

Sadly shallow. Repetitious regrets. Predictably predictable. I love Chick Lit but I resent authors who think women are feather-brained. This was not typical Sandra Brown quality in terms of plot and/or character development. (I mean, seriously, who would pay the money for a plane ticket change to leave Acapulco on an earlier flight for the SAME day she had planned on leaving just to get away from a guy?)

This was my first experience listening to fiction on CD. I picked this up at the library knowing I had a long drive ahead of me...seventeen hours to Wyoming. It was a good story, and most likely would have been better if I would have been able to read it, thus giving it more attention.

I haven't read a lot of Sandra Brown but what I have read, I've liked. This story was well written with a good story line. Always loved that "best friends discovered they love one another," scenario. Something I'm
This book is remniscent of the reason I got hooked on romance novels. It is not a deeply emotional, complex read with multidimensional characters like the books that I read today, but it is nice to be reminded of the simplicity of romance and how sometimes less is more.

I am an ABSOLUTE sucker for "friends turned lovers" books. This is that, but it is also about a man falling for his deceased best-friend's widow. An icky premise, but one that is entirely acceptable by the end of the book.
