Angels, Fate, Do we have a choice? This book is so compelling that it is hard to put down...I read the first book in the series Veiled and could not put it down, and now I did the same with this book, forgoing sleep to read it. It takes us through a journey of love, loss and destiny..The story of Tess before she was born and then her life after she was born..The decisions we make in heaven shape who we are on earth..This book was so amazing. I cannot wait til the author writes the 3rd one in the...more
Living Soul & Veiled were both gifted to me by the author in paperback, both signed!
When Ms. Niccum put on Facebook that she was looking for people to review her book Veiled, I was all for it, except I hadn't even read Living Soul. When I told Ms. Niccum this, she generously offered to send me both copies which I got about 2 weeks later in the mail. I started reading it right then and there!
Tess is an orphan. She lives in a foster home with two other children, Agatha and Dorian. I wanted to...more
I received this book from the author for review. This is a truly powerful book. Tess grows up in a foster home where she is treated very badly by the foster mom and her foster sister. She helps take care of her foster brother who has some problems, takes care of the house and tries to survive high school where she is unpopular and made fun of. She falls for Alex who is of course the popular boy in school who has a girlfriend who hates Tess. Tess soon has dreams about Alex and they are so real an...more
I really loved this book! It's one of those books where you almost scream out loud at the characters to tell them what they should do. But of course that wouldn't be effective. So instead you bite your tongue and suffer along with the characters (in that amazing way a good book draws you in!). Of course, there's not just screaming you'll want to do; you'll laugh, cry, and feel every emotion the characters do as you ride through the unsuspecting twists and turns of Tess' life. The ending leaves y...more
I really enjoyed the first book in the series, Veiled, and so I had to read this one as well. Since I was already familiar with the world and style, I read it more quickly, but I was a bit disappointed. I feel like Living Soul was a bit less polished and could use some more editing. And since it was in the real Earthly world that I'm more familiar with, it just wasn't as interesting to me. Also, it was much more clearly Christian, with scriptures and prayers scattered throughout, something I did...more
On the cover of this novel are the words; "Remember who you were." This is a great lead in to what is easily classified in my world as an outstanding work of fiction. The first book in a series, it definitely grabs you right from the start and leads you into a wonderful journey. I've always thought a good book was an adventure that you traveled in your mind, and Niccum definitely delivers with Living Soul.
This is actually the second book in a series, but the great thing is that it can stand alon...more

Living Soul is a Great read. Even though I didn't read the first book, I got up to speed quickly with this one. Tess has so much going on and you want to cry, laugh, scream and mostly you want more. This is a great book and I can't wait to read the next one!

I lost interest exactly halfway through, although lots of crazy things happen in this book, then found it again. I am glad I finished, but pretty irritated that it ends with a sort of cliffhanger. I still like the take on angels, and the working of guardian angels was interesting.
I noticed book one had lots of typos in the kindle version...this had so many misplaced commas it was distracting and annoying.
