Corpse Days
by
Jonathon Kane (Goodreads Author)
Is this the end of the world? Is the Rapture upon us? Has a Zombie Apocalypse arrived? That's a matter of opinion, but it doesn't hurt to be a licensed Shooter in these uncertain times.
Meet Stan Norton - a middle-aged Shooter with a haunting past. He wants little to do with the living dead and less to do with the living, until that is, a mysterious young woman with an affi...more

I liked this one. It had a lovely edge of desperation as people tried to get on with their lives while insanity and death were happening around them. It had a team of folks who could be kick ass if they knew what they were really up against. It had a tough heroine. It had a damaged man who has buried his pain under years of killing the infected. In short, it was dark and gritty, bloody and wonderfully gruesome.

This isn't your "typical" zombie book. It isn't filled with blood and gore, but it still manages to get the point across. This would be a perfect book for those who are curious about zombie books but don't want to start with all the hardcore gore!
Heather sees Stan put down a recently turned zombie, and decides to ask him to come along and be part of her group. Stan declines and goes on his way, but changes his mind after a very close call with a zombie on th...more

Corpse Days was is unlike the other zombie books I have read. Most of the zombie books, even though its one of my favorite genres, usually falls in post apocalyptic times, like in The Walking Dead television show. Cities have been destroyed and life has been inalated except for a few survivors, who are having to run and hide from the zombies to keep from being eaten. Corpse Days isn't like that. It's more of a present day "war" going on between us and our enemy, the zombies.

I have to admit I have limited tolerance for the flesh-eating walking dead. The genre quickly became overblown and overdone. But the storyline here intrigued me, and I'm glad I ignored my zombie aversion.
There is a lot to like about this book. The main characters are likable humans, doing their best to fight a raging viral epidemic that looks more like war than a health crisis. The plot has a lot of intricacies that made me think and could be applied to many issues in life. The characters' back...more

A really great read with a new and exciting addition to the traditional zombie apocalypse. Jonathon Kane brings witty, strong and human characters into this genre. You never forget that these are people fighting for a future and with the ghosts of their pasts. This story will keep you reading through your bedtime and anxiously awaiting the promised sequel. Give this one a try you will not be disappointed!!
