I liked the story better as it got going, finding the heroine a very interesting person - a scholarly nerdy and beautiful and rich young lady in an era which did not appreciate her brains and stubborn qualities. The hero was tall, handsome and manipulative. Of course, they fall into a loving sexual spell.

This book wasn't your normal Cheryl Holt book, but it was a sweet story none the less. I really wanted to hear Penelope's story, but it seemed like the book ended with details lingering.
I love Cheryl Holt she writes such erotic books. The only problem I had with the book was in one place were Lucus and Penny are having sex the first time. Ms Holt writes that Lucus tears off Penny's panties. They didn't have panties back in the early 1800's. They had drawers. This threw me as not being historicaly accurate. But it was a great book other wise.
The plot of this historical romance was pretty good with an exciting ending but the story had way too much detail. I started skimming all but dialogue pretty early but I did finish. Lady Penelope is being married off to an old earl and Lucas is seeking revenge for his family when their paths cross.
