Cousins Forever (Snowy Cove #2)
by
Dalya Moon (Goodreads Author)
Lainey Murphy is neither the most popular girl at her high school nor the least. And she wants to stay that way, thank you.
Enter Tick Murphy, the cousin with candy-apple-red hair and an equally loud personality. First, she makes a spectacle of herself in Drama class, then she plays an awful prank on Lainey’s friends. This is her “making an effort” to fit in? What’s next? B...more

I enjoyed this book. It's the perfect middle school book. Fitting in and peer pressure, along with always having been the good girl, is the situation that Lainey, a freshman in high school, is faced with. Her annoying cousin and aunt come to live with her family and it seems Tick is always being naughty and never receives any consequences. This does not feel so hot for Lainey who is finding her social life dwindling because she is always being such a "good girl."

I love the layering to Moon's stories. There's a lot going on but it's never overwhelming. It feels very true to life. She managed to nail that awkwardness of high school. I almost felt like I was back in high school. I got the lump in my throat from stopping myself from crying many times. I knew how Lainey and Tick felt about trying to fit in but it not really working.

This was much more fun than Charlie and much more age appropriate. I appreciated the chance to read this book. It was a complimentary Kindle copy from BookRoosters dot com. I think the author writes well and tells a story that makes you feel you are there in the scene. Of course, in this case, I am glad they can't see the old lady standing there acting like she is a Freshman again. <>
