I enjoyed this book. It's the perfect middle school book. Fitting in and peer pressure, along with always having been the good girl, is the situation that Lainey, a freshman in high school, is faced with. Her annoying cousin and aunt come to live with her family and it seems Tick is always being naughty and never receives any consequences. This does not feel so hot for Lainey who is finding her social life dwindling because she is always being such a "good girl."
There is a nice twist to the stor...more

I love the layering to Moon's stories. There's a lot going on but it's never overwhelming. It feels very true to life. She managed to nail that awkwardness of high school. I almost felt like I was back in high school. I got the lump in my throat from stopping myself from crying many times. I knew how Lainey and Tick felt about trying to fit in but it not really working.

Of course, in this case, I am glad they can't see the old lady standing there acting like she is a Freshman again. <>

I love the characters in the story, all of them. Even the bratty cousin, who turns out to be the best thing...more
