I really enjoyed BOOMERANG BRIDE. I’m really glad that I made it a priority to read it and not let if fall into my ever growing TBR pile.
Although a bit lengthy, BOOMERANG BRIDE offers so many different atmospheres to pull on your heart. This was a mild comfortable read. You follow the story of Mathilda the Aussie bride who travelled to Wisconsin. She did not meet her intended fiance who was a fraud but instead found the Viking Marc.
The first 2 chapter was great; Ms Lowe painted the image of Mathilda's plight and you imagined her in her ill fit wedding dress and cake in her arms. I loved the premise of an abandoned bride from Australia meeting up with the one man that just cannot handle the emotional turmoil that family and friends bring. Boomerang Bride which is set to release on the 8th of this month is my first Fiona Lowe and it definitely is not going to be my last. Boomerang Bride is a refreshingly humorous story of Matilda making lemonade from lemons. I absolutely loved the dynamics of this story. It is so much more than simply a romance story.
The relationship between Matilda and Marc is quite hilarious as they never seem to get along. Matilda is wildly independent and that conflicts with Marc's personality. It also makes for some very comical dialogue between the two.

I realize that my vast number of status updates while reading may have given the impression that I didn't like it or that I was looking for things wrong with the book. I downloaded BOOMERANG BRIDE expecting a fun, fluffy bit of reading. An intriguing hook - Matilda Geoffrey leaves Australia to marry the man of her dreams only to discover that he doesn't exist. Really, really liked this book. Initially, I thought it would be fairly lighthearted - a helplessly romantic Aussie finds herself unintentionally homeless in a small town in Wisconsin in November. But there was an emotional depth to the story that I found surprising and very satisfying. Lori's illness and the reactions of Kyle, Marc, and Brian, and of Lori herself, was an unexpected subplot that enriched the main story.

Decent but that's about it. It was pretty bland all in all. I think that it lacked any real tension. It was too long for the amount of story that there actually was to tell. At first I wasn't sure if I would like this book. The initial plot device seemed far-fetched. Since it won the RITA, I decided to read it and am so glad I did. Boy, it turned out to be a really nice romance. The main characters were likable (as were the secondary ones), there was a lot of build up to the 'love' scenes (so they felt real, not phony or merely lusty), and the emotional pay off of the HEA was very satisfying as a result of the sweet romantic moments throughout the story.
