I'm a horse lover and this a fun read of history of the calvary forces during the US Civil War. Most interesting to me was the fact that Confederate forces were far superior horsemen to their Union opponents and knew how to maximize this superiority in the defense of the South -- until the Union finally figured out how to catch-up and throw more men, horses and supplies at the Rebels in overwhelming numbers. A fun and quick read

well written, balanced and thorough. Nice to read a book on civil war history that just focuses on calvary and doesn't get bogged down in ridiculous detail. High recommended.

Lots of short stories, in chronological order, about the various Cavalry commanders in the War Between the States... interesting! I wanted to learn more about two in particular, Nathan Bedford Forrest, and John Hunt Morgan...
