As a historical sampler, "The Art of Beadwork" takes the reader on a satisfying, if light, tour of some of the great beading civilizations of history both ancient and recent, from the earliest archaeological evidence of beads in pre-history to the modern artistry of India, China, and Africa. This is a fantastic must-read for anyone that loves beads. Valerie Hector has created a wonderful tour through the history of beadwork across the globe, with a special enthusiasm that can only come from a passionate beader.

Interesting historical beads and beautiful modern pieces inspired by them. With the historical pieces, it provides the reader with a bit of history of beading. It includes a instructions and designs a more advanced bead artist can recreate. Recommended reading.
