I have begun my stretch of Pauline studies with Joseph Fantin's monograph, The Lord of the Entire World: Lord Jesus, a Challenge to Lord Caesar.

Fantin has made a considerable contribution to our understanding of Paul's relationship to the Roman Empire - which, is certainly a hot-button these days. His primary concern in this volume is to determine whether Paul, in his use of the title lord for Jesus, occasionally, if not regularly, intended to challenge the Emperor's claim of lordship.
