This book gave me a glimpse at the life of a Cistercian Monk. It has moments where you laugh as well as moments that cause you to pause and re-read a section.

After reading this book I cleaned out a lot of my parts of my past by closing my eyes and remembering trying moments and letting them go. Much of my adolescent life at home was spent in my family's basement in silence.

Memories of earlier parts of my life were also part of my review and cleaning. This book gave me the way to proceed in man

This was a sweet and gentle book; I don't think it's exactly what it's billed to be ("A guide to facing your fears and finding God") because it is comprised of journal entries, quite short entries at that --the very personal musings of one monk, Anthony Delisi, O.C.S.O. (Order of Cistercians of Strict Observance, which I never would have guessed in a million years, so I Googled it). Delisi sits every morning at 4:30 a.m., after Vigils (at 4 a.m. -- which includes reading scripture), and meditate ...more
