In this volume we finally get to see Thulsa Doom, which I had been waiting on. There's also a somewhat silly subplot about a talking cat, and of course the serpent men are never far away. Overall not a bad volume, but not as good as book one.

One of the great debates I’ve had with several friends is that impact that THE LORD OF THE RINGS movies have had on modern cinema. We’re all convinced that the films are great – epic interpretations of J.R.R. Tolkien’s seminal stories – but have they set the bar too high? In other words, will other tales from the genre of fantasy have a chance of ever getting top-notch treatment as opposed to simply “getting made”? For example, HBO’s venture into fantasy with GAME OF THRONE

I have long been fond of the worlds of Robert E. Howard, both in the original prose and in the better comics adaptations.
In this one, Lapham did an excellent job of finding an offbeat twist on themes presented by Howard, blending a slightly silly framing story with the serious underpinnings of King Kull's world.
In this, the king is presented with evidence of a talking, prophetic cat, in the company of a lovely, young-but-flaky woman. The real story is much more complicated, and very intriguing.

The Cat and the Skull (2011–12) is the 3rd story in Dark Horse’s modern Kull “reboot”, going with the Robert E. Howard story “Delcardes’ Cat” (from around 1928, unpublished at the time because it sucked, later published way after Howard’s death in 1967). The adaptation is buy Lapham like The Hate Witch, and it also sucks. The art by Guzman is still not good. 1/5. I wish they got the guys who made The Shadow Kingdom to continue this series.

Liked the artwork in this a little more than the previous volumes. I do wish they'd give a bit more time to the development of the story as each time it seems a bit rushed.
