Muckydum is impossible to define without hypens, so the closest I can come to a categorization is that it's a paranormal-literary-suspense-mystery novel. It has elements of each, without any one genre asserting itself too strongly, and sometimes uses one tone to cancel out the other.

The narrative is tense at times, and then quiet and contemplative. It evokes nature's beauty, and sleepy academia well - then stumbles upon paranormal-horror and reclusive squalor. The mystery isn't too hard to figur

I found this book to be good. I was a little surprised for I wasn't sure where it was going. I do say sometimes the back and forth from present to past got a wee bit confusing only because sometimes it blurred and you couldn't distinguish the two. I think though that is good because it keeps the reader on their toes.

All the tragedy in Bill's life is so sad to read. Especially Matt. That one I cried at. Bill though was as Matt said self absorbed.

Bill is a writer turned professor who had a hard l

I personally enjoyed this book. I will say that it is not for everyone. It is not action packed excitement, but it will surprise you. The twists are unexpected, and I was kept guessing the whole time. I thought things were one way, only to find out they were completely different later. Not in a confusing way, but definitely in a way that kept you interested. There are a few things that could have been elaborated on, but this is true for most books. I felt connected to the main character, Bill, a ...more

A well-woven tale of past and present, with a few unexpected twists. The story is nicely structured and paced to keep the reader engaged throughout.

As hard as I tried, I couldn’t fully connect with the characters. I wanted to be annoyed by the self-important Breanna but wasn’t. I wanted to relate to the lovable, quirky professor; I just couldn’t. Deeper character development would take this book from 4 stars to 5.

The version I read is in desperate need of a professional proofreading. Words were

An ARR Review:
What a great book!! This was indeed a page turner where I had to find out the next thing that was going to happen. At first I thought that this was Bill's story but it turned out to be Brenna's. The jist of this storyline is in order to live your life to the fullest you have to face your demons and the understand the reason you tend to hold on to them like a life line. Again I will say, what a great story.

It was an interesting book. - sad, deep, and I felt that I never knew what was happening - I felt confused at times and had to keep going back to see if I missed something
