Otto Malpense and his friends thought their first year at the Higher Institute of Villainous Education was the most adventurous and exciting that they would ever encounter. They were dead wrong.

When Otto and Wing are allowed off campus to attend Wing's father's funeral, they have no idea it's a trap, all part of a lethal pl

I am currently reading H.I.V.E The Overlord Protocol by Mark Walden. I'm at the part were Otto is falling from the explosion and is trying to fall in a target.I think the author does a good job of putting action and details like when Otto was falling twenty thousand feet from an explosion , that he had butterflies in his stomach when he was falling and that he was falling in high descent velocity. My favorite character is Otto because he is brave and strong.I think Otto is like me because he is l ...more

Mark Walden's H.I.V.E. series is amazing! It is beautifully written, entertaining and action packed. I can't wait for the third part in the trilogy to be released!

Otto, Wing and co. are back for their second year at H.I.V.E. (Higher Institute for Villanous Education) and all seem to be settling in. Wing though, is still mystified by Nero's having the other half of his mother's pendant and needs to know if Nero killed her. Otto agrees to delay his escape plans to help his best friend find the ans
If you've read any teenage spy school type books: (Alex Rider, Cherub, etc.) then you may have wondered, "if the good guys go to this place, what about the baddies?" They go to H.I.V.E.--a decent twist on on the genre, showing the school for Bond-style baddies and general evil geniuses. Thus we have a book where James Bond meets Artemis Fowl in a fast paced adventure. Couldn't put it down even if I was supposed to be working.

After an unsuccessful escape plan, Otto and Wing acknowledge H.I.V.E. a

This is quite the fast-paced sequel to the first book and is full of twists and turns in its own right. The book starts to get interesting when Wing's father dies, and Otto accompanies him to his funeral. Not long after that, Cypher and a squad of seemingly invincible ninjas ambushes Otto, Wing, and Raven at the hotel and it is clear that they wouldn't be mourning Wing's dead father. At first many things may seem to be put together, such as the attack on Nero and Cypher's little visit, but it i

I read thus book because i had to read a book that qualfied for a book i had to read on spring break so I choose this one because it had a green cover. I also read this book because when I read the back it sounded really instersting. One last reason i read this book because of the title it told what H.I.V.E stands for which is The Higher Institude of Villainous Education and that told me that this is about science which i liked.
My opion of this book is that this book was good. The people that
Continuing the story from H.I.V.E., Walden takes his readers back to the school for supervillians in an action-packed sequel. This second outing takes readers out of the Higher Institute of Villainous Education as the anti-hero Otto's best friend Wing explores the strange connection between his family and Dr. Nero, H. I. V. E.'s principal. Well-paced and action-packed, the book screams "great beach read!" providing that readers are familiar with the first book. Like a good action movie, Walden d ...more

For Maxamillion Nero, there is no one more to hate than Cypher. Always hidden by a mask, and a disregard for human life, he is more than the usual evil. Annoyingly his plans WORK, so he is pushed higher and higher up G.L.O.V.E.'s honor list.
At H.I.V.E. Otto and Wing are invited to Wing's father's funeral after an explosion in his lab at G.L.O.V.E. But things do not go as planned...
This book is good book for readers of the 1st book in this series hungry for more. Also, it explains the 1st book p
This was a really good book. The story was well thought out and very clear. The problem was very easy to find. This is a great book.

It was a nice beginning to what is the "main plot" or problem in the series, the Overlord take-over. The action scenes are well-written and could fit easily in a superhero or spy movie. Once again, it feels like the characters only have around one layer of personality because there is more time given to the action than to the plot. The best part of this book, however, was the part where Cypher explains in the end and everything sort of clicks into place. Not only was it a good revelation, it was ...more

This book is about a kid named Otto Malpense and a friend of his goes to Japan to attend his father funeral. So when they arrive its confusing to them because they are going through obstacles to find out how his father died. While he was there he found out his Father been died and someone faked his death.Someone wanted him there to find out private information. So from there everything started going down hill.

Things that I liked about this book is how they describe what happened in the part of

Tentokrát jsme uvedeni do příběhu scénou, kdy Otto padá z obří výšky pravděpodobně z letadla a hrozně zuří.
The Overlord Protocol is an outstanding book. It is the second book in the H.I.V.E series. In The Overlord Protocol, the main character, Otto Malpense begins his second year at the evil institute called H.I.V.E. I was worried the sequel would not be great but it was fabulous!

When I started this second book, I was excited at the prospect. I had enjoyed the first 'H.I.V.E.' read, but I hate to say I wasn't actually too gripped with this one. It's not that it's a boring book or anything, it's just not my favourite one so far . . .

I love the characters. I think they're all very realistic, and Franz and Nigel make me laugh a lot. The dramatic scenes though, I would have much preferred Number One to be in the main picture (although I am aware this would be pointless!) He

In the book, Otto and Wing are allowed to leave H.I.V.E to attend Wing's fathers funeral. It's a trap by Nero's enemy Cypher, and he kills Wing leaving Otto and Raven wanting revenge. Meanwhile, Cypher is planning to attack H.I.V.E with an army of robots. Soon they all learn the truth about Cypher and his reasons for his actions. Wing's death was faked so Otto and his friends were all happy.

I chose this book because it was a sequel to a book I read last year which was really good. That was recom

I thought the book was fantastic. It was certainly better than the first book. The book is mainly finding out about a person in G.L.O.V.E. named Cypher. Cypher is truly a despicable man. After devastating events take place in Tokyo, Otto will stop at nothing to put the man behind bars. Does Cypher want to unleash the overlord again into the world? How far will he go to do so? I would recommend the book to people of all ages who love books with suspense would have their eyes glued to the marvelou ...more
I loved this book. It was better than the first one. I will recommend it to my 5th grade students.

This is the second book in the H.I.V.E. series. The first book was only written so that he could get to this one. Don't get me wrong I loved the first book, but this one takes it to the next level. The action is more intense, the plot is more complex, and the villains are eviler. The use of suspense is masterful. I seriously dreaded putting this book down. And the twist ending was amazing!

If you are reading this review then no doubt that you have read the book description above so I won't risk s

Otto and his friends Wing, Laura, & Shelby are still at H.I.V.E., the Higher Institute of Villainous Education, for another year learning how to become the world’s supervillains. Still held against their will for this most unusual eduction, the kids are only sure of one thing, each other.

When Wing’s father unexpectedly dies, Wing and Otto are allowed to leave the island for the funeral, chaperoned of course, to prevent their escape. At the funeral, events take a terrible turn. The boys have

After finishing the first book I couldn't wait to dive into this one, and not to my surprise this one was just as good if not better. In this book Wing takes a bigger role, as he is the main reason the plot laid out like it did. Wing (a second year student who helped Otto in his failed escape the year previous. He is the second best hand to hand combatant, only behind Raven, a master assassin.) receives news that his father died and was sent off with Otto to attend the funeral. This leads up to ...more
In this second installment of the HIVE series, expect more of the same: cool gadgets, chase scenes, and the brilliant criminal masterminds of Otto, Wing and the other kids who attend HIVE, the Higher Institute for Villanous Education.

When Wing's father suddenly dies, he leaves the safety of HIVE to attend the funeral. Otto escorts him, and so does Raven, a lethal assassin sent along to protect the boys and make sure they do not escape from the school (which they tried to do in the first book).

This is the second book about the school for super villains called the H.I.V.E. (Higher Institute of Villainous Education) in Tokyo, Japan. The school helps bad kids with technical genius learn how to be super villains. The main characters are Otto, Wing, Laura, Shelby, and Raven.
A villain named Cypher who we later learn is Wing`s father, sets a trap to let Otto and Wing think he`s dead. When Otto and Wing attend the funeral, they are attacked by ninjas. Cypher wanted to capture Otto and Wing s

H.I.V.E. The Overload Protocol was written by Mark Walden and was published in 2007. The intended audience for this book is young adults. The main problem the book addresses is protecting the H.I.V.E. from a threat. The setting is in modern times and on and island and in the jungle. The story could not take place anywhere or at any other time, because technology and the island play an important part.
The main characters in this book are the same as in the first H.I.V.E. book. They are Otto Malpen

After an unsuccessful escape plan, Otto and Wing acknowledge H.I.V.E. as their residence for now.

Unfortunately, Dr. Nero will have a difficult time explaining the circumstances of the attempted escape to the G.L.O.V.E. and Number One. Clearly, Number One is unhappy that the event took place, and Cypher believes that now is the perfect time to openly challenge the need for the school.

When someone attacks Dr. Nero, he knows that he must be very cau

“We have nothing to fear but fear itself," Otto replied. "Oh, and a megalomaniacal headmaster, the world's deadliets assassin, giant mutated plant monsters, an international cartel of supervillains, and the security forces of every country on earth, but other than that...just fear.” 85 likes
“Do we get a bedtime story?" Otto asked cheekily. "Oh yes, of course. I think we'll have one of my favorites; it's called 'The Little Boy and the Tranquilizer Gun." Raven smiled in a rather unsettling way.” 10 likes
