I remember when I was in middle school, my childhood slumber party friends all decided that cheerleading would be the "cool" thing to do. Despite the fact that I was quiet and shy, I was somehow convinced to lag along to cheerleading tryouts in our tiny little gym right after school one day. This is a very cute story. Faith is new in town. She meets Gaby, who lives a few houses away, and is encouraged by Gaby and her mother to try out for the Cheerleading squad. Faith is really excited about being on the squad and going to cheer camp in July. The team doesn’t even get to leave for cheer camp before Ella lays in to Faith. Faith gets put in a situation where she must prove that she is one of the squad or the loser that Ella makes her out to be. I identify with Faith on so many levels....more
Meet Faith the new girl in school who joins the cheer-leading squad. She thinks she is everything a cheerleader is not, shy, tall and lanky. Despite her reservations she make the squad. I thought this book was really well-written, and did a great job of covering all aspects of cheerleading. I learned the terminology for a lot of cheer moves I never even realized had specific names, and the book paints cheerleading as a fun, motivational activity, but leaves out most of the catty negativity a lot of non-cheerleaders might associate with the sport. The book is also really appealing to look at. Chapters are separated by a full page of graffiti-like wr...more

So this was pretty cute :) A nice, quick read about a dorky new girl who goes off to a Cheerleading Camp - actually before the school year has even started! I'd be interested to read the books when school does start and she's new but not totally unfamiliar :)
