I remember when I was in middle school, my childhood slumber party friends all decided that cheerleading would be the "cool" thing to do. Despite the fact that I was quiet and shy, I was somehow convinced to lag along to cheerleading tryouts in our tiny little gym right after school one day. Tall and lanky for my height, I definitely couldn't do the splits, a toe-touch, or even a graceful cartwheel, so I ended up chickening out at the last moment.

After that, the closest I ever got to cheerleadi...more

Are you a fan of Cheerleading movies ? Have you passed through the stage of reading Rainbow Fairies , Tiara Club and Go-girls ?
This is the perfect read for all girls aged 9-13yrs old and if they have ever dreamed of being a cheerleader and live for movies like Bring It On #1-5 , Fired Up , Step Up #1-4. Then this is definitely the book for them.
Faith and the Camp Snob introduces us to Faith - she is the new girl on the Cheerleading squad and definitely not what many of us would think , includi...more

Faith is just like any normal teen. When she is new to a school, she feels left out. She wonders if she will find friends. She wonders if she will fit in. That is, until she meets 2 girls from the cheerleading squad, while out with her mom.
Faith is a fan of cheerleading films like *Bring It On!*, but she never pictured herself as one of the actual cheerleaders. She just wanted to watch cheerleading from the sidelines. But, her mother has different plans.(And, so does Faith's heart!) So, she pu...more

Faith is happy to have quickly found a new friend as she gets ready to attend a new middle school. Gaby convinces Faith to try out for the cheer squad and despite being very shy and a bit awkward, Faith makes the team. Cheer camp strengthens her skills but her confidence is shaken by Ella, the camp snob. Will Faith come out on top?

The format of this book (lots of white space, length--96 pages, and text boxes of lists or forms in every chapter) will appeal to the intended audience of preteen and...more

New girl Faith Higgins has found a place where she fits on the school cheerleading squad, but Ella Jenkins, one of the members, somehow manages to make her feel uncomfortable and insecure. When the squad goes to a summer camp to learn stunts and cheers, Ella pushes the shy girl to lead a cheer in front of the entire cafeteria. At first Faith is mortified and wants to go home, but the other squad members and her coach rally around her, and she sticks it out. This is a useful title to help late el...more

This is a very cute story. Faith is new in town. She meets Gaby, who lives a few houses away, and is encouraged by Gaby and her mother to try out for the Cheerleading squad. Faith is really excited about being on the squad and going to cheer camp in July. The team doesn’t even get to leave for cheer camp before Ella lays in to Faith. Faith gets put in a situation where she must prove that she is one of the squad or the loser that Ella makes her out to be. I identify with Faith on so many levels....more

Meet Faith the new girl in school who joins the cheer-leading squad. She thinks she is everything a cheerleader is not, shy, tall and lanky. Despite her reservations she make the squad. Cheer camp is where this tale takes place and being a newbie is scary enough for Faith, but add Ella (the camp snob ) she picks on Faith and criticizes her every chance she gets.

I liked this story. I found myself rooting for Faith a character I can identify with in many ways. Faith has the doubts we all have at...more

I thought this book was really well-written, and did a great job of covering all aspects of cheerleading. I learned the terminology for a lot of cheer moves I never even realized had specific names, and the book paints cheerleading as a fun, motivational activity, but leaves out most of the catty negativity a lot of non-cheerleaders might associate with the sport. The book is also really appealing to look at. Chapters are separated by a full page of graffiti-like wr...more

So this was pretty cute :) A nice, quick read about a dorky new girl who goes off to a Cheerleading Camp - actually before the school year has even started! I'd be interested to read the books when school does start and she's new but not totally unfamiliar :)

The 'snob' of the title isn't really a snob actually, she's a bully. (view spoiler)[But she actually comes good in the end - no tricks! Unexpected, but nice to see for a change. Her nastiness was more due to her being blunt and insensitive,...more
