Have you ever seen any of those teenager movies where the guy crushes on a girl for years and finally works up the courage to prove he likes her at a party? If you have seen any of those raunchy movies then you're already familiar with the premise of fml by Shaun Hutchinson.
Simon Cross is your average geeky teenager who falls in love with the most popular girl in his school. You know him as "that guy" from those movies I previously mentioned. Simon Cross is a likeable c...more

FML, surprisingly, wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Sure there were issues, but overall I found it to be quirky and fun.
With our premise a teenager in love/ obsessed with another girl, I was as reluctant as an unprepared student taking his or her final exam. Our main character Simon Cross was, to some extent, obsessive and annoying, but his behavior was managed so it didn't come off as intensely insane some of the time....more

I am having so much trouble getting into this book that I literally had to put it down, move on to something else and hopefully when I pick it back up, it will just click a little bit more. So far the problems that I'm having with it, is that the story is being told in a very juvenile voice. So much that at several times while reading, I had to just stop because it was irritating. I think this novel is more appropriate for a high school student as they would relate to it much more than I am.
Read as Digital ARC.
While I liked the book and the messages it sent about love, fate and friendship, I ran into some trouble when I tried to eat and read at the same time. Long story short: hazing and a character called Urinal Cake. Other than that, I did enjoy the book. If you like reading about parties, unrequited love and how different actions lead to different results (a la Pivot Point, Before I Fall, etc...) you might want to give this a read.

marked it as to-read
I've marked this as to-read because I can't wait to read the finish book, but I read an early draft of this and love, love, love it!
If you loved Deathday, you're going to love FML. If you hated Deathday, I still think you're going to love FML.
The kind of bawdy, zany humor I tapped for Deathday is the sort of thing I think an author can only get away with once in a lifetime. So while FML still has plenty of funny moments, it's also got a lot of heart, a lot of sweet moments, and a lot of smooching.
