Review:

"The Window Builder" by Kelly Hoose Johnson was a very good short novel of around eighty pages. We find that these twin boys had lost their father last Christmas and wanted to do something special this year for their mother. They had both saved their money and it seems like there is a window that needs fixing in the mother's bedroom. The story does tend to g

An interesting short story about helping someone else come to terms with a sad event, somehow making it all right again. The story has a good message, but it's short, and there is not much why or how. Initially the voices of the two boys sound quite young, as does their friend Madison, but then it turns out Madison is driving, and only a 'few years later' one of the twins is engaged to be married. Because this story is set at Christmas time, I wanted to read it last December. But I could never get it from the library at that time. No matter, it's a sweet story to read at any time of the year. Jason and Carter want to get their mother something special for Christmas, something that would heal her heart from the terrible tragedy of losing her husband at a young age. Commissioned with the task, Jason isn't able to get what the boys had wanted, but he got something better -- understanding.

I was not sure how to rate this book. It had some great messages but not very realistic. It did have the wonder of the season.
Twin boys want to make the season extra special for their Mom as it was the first one without their Dad who has died. With help from others and a mysterious stranger the window comes to be.
