Too bad this book is out of print. I found a used copy, and I thought it presented an interesting, if somewhat flawed, perspective on the subject. The writing was a bit clunky at times, and if I wasn't such a James Joyce fan, I wouldn't have enjoyed it nearly as much.
Goodreads, you SUCK. Another review lost to your suckiness.

Here is the haiku version.

Crazy, bewitching Lucia can tell a hawk from a handsaw. Her daddy was sexy. The medications make her grow a little mustache. Her onion seller lover liberates her from the loony bin, or does he?

There were heaps of serious gels writing books like this in the early 90s. Feminist, purple-inked, not entirely hanging together. Vignette-writing with historical smoke-screen. (See Sallie Muirden and Jeanette Winterson
