The Book of Bad Ideas
By: Laura Huliska-Beith

The book of bad ideas is a funny and creative way to create a positive classroom environment by letting the children make their own set of rules. Even though in this book not all the bad ideas would happen in the classroom it teaches children a good lesson not to do these things or you might get hurt or in trouble with your parents. This text is a compilation of bad ideas such as, roller blading with your dog even though he was kicked

The Book of Bad Ideas is packed full of exactly what you'd expect - bad ideas. From rollerblading with your dog who was kicked out of obedience school, to parking your toy truck in the oven, and bringing home a stray animal, this book is a big list of what not to do. This numbered list is sure to give the mischievous side in every child a good laugh, or some good ideas.

The illustrations in this book are very important, because the words are very straight forward and don't give you too much to go

The book of bad ideas is sure to make you relive your own bad ideas, or adventures that went south in a hurry. This book by Laura Huliska-Beith is breaking the mold of your typical picture book. The story is very straight forward and will leave the audience laughing. The book simply recounts some of the bad ideas that everyone has once had, such as seeing if you can put something in a tight space without knowing i you will be able to get it back out. When i read this part of the book I ...more

The Book of Bad Ideas, written by Laura Huliska-Beith, was an adorable read. One of the reasons why I enjoyed The Book of Bad Ideas so much was because of its structure. Laura Huliska-Beith writing was very witty and the words on each page were no more than a sentence or two formatted in different unique ways on every page, keeping it interesting and fun to follow. This picture book would be most appealing as a read aloud for second graders for entertainment purposes. The book was full of ...more

In "The Book of Bad Ideas" it shows numerous bad ideas that children cal all relate to in one way or another. This book is filled with humor that makes it so fun for readers to keep reading. This book is not very didactic however, showing kids all the bad ideas makes readers understand that they are truly bad ideas. This book will constantly have children laughing and wanting to read more. This book is screaming to be read aloud to people of all ages because at one time in everyone's life they ...more

The Book of Bad Ideas is as simple as that, it is literally a book full of different bad ideas children have had. While the illustrations were cute, there was no plot, and in the end not my favorite.

The Book of Bad Ideas would be most appropriate for children in either Second Grade. I believe while this book would be a good choice for independent reading time. The only instance where it would enrich a lesson would be if you were discussing the difference between good and bad decisions with your

The Book of Bad Ideas by Laura Huliska-Beith

Picture book, realistic fiction: humor
-This senseless book brings out the silliness in all of us. It addresses many bad ideas that will relate to students because they might have either thought, seen, or done them. The bad ideas recounted this way make them seem more funny, rather than bad. The illustrations add to the happy, nonsensicalness of the book. It would be a great book for students to recount

From a book review (Bas Bleau perhaps?) Have you ever done something and then thought, 'well, that was a bad idea!'? We thought so. What if you put all your bad ideas into one book? Then you would have 'The Book of Bad Ideas'. P.s. Reading this book is a bad idea while crossing a busy stress. P.s.s. holding this book in your math book during class is a bad idea. Etc. etc. etc. . .

Think back to the last time you had to say, 'well, that was a bad idea'. Do you remember what it was? If not, don't worry, this book is filled with reminders for us all. P.S. Reading this book while crossing a busy street is a bad ida. P.s.s. holding this book in your math book during class is a bad idea. Find out more! (Bas Bleau review cited).

I really enjoyed this book. It was very comical and I really think students in grades 1-4 would love it. It is perfect to read aloud or for them to read individually. It was funny and told students things that would not be a good ideas for them to do. So it was like a lesson on behavioral topics.

A fun book about mischief and how sometimes not all plans work as designed. Many of the bad ideas are hilarious and will have children laughing out loud. This book could be used to spur discussion or create a story/illustration.

Would be great to use as a class read aloud and have students come up with their own bad ideas. Would fit right in with cause/effect lessons.

Cute... full of lots of not to dos for my boys. Some were so foreign they wouldn't have thought of them in the first place and some I had to completely explain (like Bad Idea #11)!
