I picked up this book for two reasons - first off is that I'd like to participate in the Barkley Marathons and the author, a past Barkley runner, offered the proceeds up from the sale of this book to help Lazarus keep the race going. Second, I picked it up out of curiosity in regard to what someone who has competed in the marathons would write in response to it.
