Once again, author Jerry Jenkins has done a great job with the element of suspense in this novel---it definitely kept me reading wanting to know what was going to happen next in Boone Drake's search for his abducted adoptive son Max. There is a double crisis going on in this novel since on the same day that his adoptive son Max is abducted, his wife Haeley falls on cement and sustains a severe life-threatening head injury. This time Boone doesn't turn to rage and bitterness as he had done after...more

As I picked up my complimentary advance readers’ copy of Jerry Jenkin’s new book, The Breakthrough, I reached in a basket and took out a bookmark. It turned out that picking up the bookmark was a waste of time. I read the book without stopping.
Every book I read by Jerry Jenkins reminds me that he is a writer at the top of his craft. The Breakthrough polishes that reputation to an even higher sheen.

"The Breakthrough" is the third of the "Precinct 11" series of novels by popular Christian author Jerry B. Jenkins. This series features Boone Drake, the head of the Chicago Police Department's Major Case Squad. In this story, Boone Drake, who has already having lost a wife and son in a previous tragedy, now must deal with the kidnapping of his newly adopted son which occurs just after his new wife is rushed to the hospital in a coma with a life threatening head injury. So this is certainly a bo...more

Another winning book by Jerry B. Jenkins. The Breakthrough is the third book in the A Precinct 11 novel series. It seems to me each book Jerry writes is better than the one before.
I just love police books and this one is one of the best.
The characters and settings are so well described it just seems like you are right there.
Just when things started to look good for Boone and his personal life and career are back on top several things go...more

I believe the last book I read by Jerry Jenkins was Left Behind, which I enjoyed immensely. This was a different kind of story, but had the same element of having you at the edge of your seat.
Jerry Jenkins is a great writer and develops stories which are suspenseful and entertaining. He hooks you into the story from page one.
The development of characters were believable. He writes so well, I was able to see and feel everything.

If you enjoy fast paced, action adventure cop thrillers then the Precinct 11 Series is for you. In this third book of the series Jenkins knocks it out of the park! He has the reader easily relating to the cliche' "why do bad things happen to good people" , through Boone Drake (the lead character).
You'll find yourself asking, how much can one man endure as you journey along with Drake. His friends show what true friends are all about and the interactions are very believable. You'll need to begin...more

The Breakthrough, the third in a series of Precinct 11 novels by Jerry Jenkins, is an excellent story that will keep readers engrossed to the end. Jenkins, already a respected author, outdid himself with this mystery and suspense novel, creating characters with authentic voices addressing themes, such as human trafficking and international adoption, that are both relevant and timely.
I particularly enjoyed the gritty, down-to-earth Boone Drake and the way in which this hard-core cop struggles wit...more

Synopsis: Boone Drake is the youngest bureau chief in the history of the Chicago PD.
Boone now has a new wife (Haeley) and a stepson named Max. Boone's life is finally settled, and his faith is steadfast, but he seems to continually peer around the corner, waiting for something bad to happen. He has already experienced more tragedy than most, and, with his faith sorely tested, I can almost understand how and why he fin...more

I really liked this series. Well-written, descriptive, suspensful, without all the graphic garbage in so many contemporary suspense stories.
