Quando Peter, o pai de Katherine e John recebe um envelope com uma chave e descobre que a casa de infância da falecida mulher lhe foi deixada em testamento, a família decide ir passar algum tempo de férias na região. Ao princípio a casa parece ser um sonho... mas em breve a estranha boneca que aparece em todo o lado, os livros rasurados e os cadernos onde estão escrevinhadas as regras de um estranho jogo fazem com que os 'irmãos' se comecem a sentir ameaçados.

Sangue Ruim tinha quase tudo para ser uma boa história de suspense e fantasia, mas a fraca execução estragou tudo. Não nego que é uma leitura rápida e que muitos dos elementos do enredo são interessantes, mas a história está tão mal desenvolvida, é tão incipiente que se tornou frustrante ler o livro, por vezes.

A rivalidade entre Kat e Cat pareceu-me despropositada; Harriet e Peter, os pais, pareceram-me demasiado passivos e ausentes; Alice pareceu-me ter sido atirada para o meio da história ao calhas e Emily e Charlotte pouco aparecem (e tendo em conta quem são deveriam aparecer muito mais). Não consegui ligar-me a nenhuma das personagens porque são todas muito superficiais e estereotipadas, para além de terem muito pouco carisma.

Quanto ao enredo em si, como já disse, achei que estava bastante mal explorado. A ideia da autora nem era má de todo, mas houve demasiado que ficou por explicar (mas enumerar tudo seria um grandessíssimo spoiler) e penso que Lassiter poderia ter desenvolvido muito mais o jogo e os seus objectivos, a finalidade das personagens criadas e o papel de John.

O final foi abrupto e sinceramente, anti-climático.

No geral, uma obra com muito pouco que se recomende excepto, talvez o conceito. As personagens e a história mereceram pouca atenção da parte da autora e esta nunca conseguiu deixar-me verdadeiramente em suspense enquanto o enredo se desenrolava. Nada de especial. (less)

Esta é a história de uma família pouco funcional com discussões permanentes que se vai enfiar numa casa de aspecto lúgubre herdada de um familiar, alguém que havia morrido com problemas mentais. Na casa, como seria de esperar, mas também em toda a localidade que a envolve, algo de estranho paira no ar, sobretudo nos arredores mais próximos e no bosque.

Personagens que não parecem humanos, bonecas que aparentam vontade própria, reflexos que parecem albergar vida, livros com os nomes dos personagens riscados profunda e permanentemente. Há uma atmosfera negra e deliciosa de que algo vai acabar muito mal...

O enredo que encontrei conseguiu de forma eficaz e agradável transportar-me para um clima de grande ansiedade e expectativa. A autora conseguiu levar-me para o mundo da história que urdiu e devorei página atrás de página no desejo brutal de saber o que vinha a seguir.

Na minha opinião penso que o criar desta atmosfera contagiante é conseguido de forma plena, excelente, - ainda que recorrendo a alguns clichés como bosques assombrados e bonecas que perseguem personagens com tesouras.

O aspecto que considerei menos positivo neste "thriller" prendeu-se com o facto de, após me elevar para esse estado de euforia sangrenta, de me fazer crescer a saliva pelo climax aguardado, o desenvolvimento não teve sangue nenhum, ninguém morreu, o suspense foi-se dissipando e acabei por me ver num conto com características que me pareceram orientadas para um público mais jovem e mais "tenrinho".

No global achei o livro muito bom e tenho todo o interesse na leitura de mais obras desta autora.

Para ser mais do que muito bom e entrar no capítulo da excelência faltou um pouco mais de violência e uns litros de sangue derramado.

Als beinahe schon letzter Versuch der Eltern unternimmt die Familie einen gemeinsamen Ausflug in das Haus, in dem die verstorbene Mutter von John und Katherine aufgewachsen ist. Dort macht Catriona schon recht bald die Bekanntschaft der Puppe Delilah und ihrer „Drohnen“: Puppen, denen die Gesichter ausgekratzt wurden. Zunächst tut sie die Unheimlichkeit der Puppe jedoch ab.

Während Catriona auf einem Spaziergang ins Dorf mit Roley auf den mysteriösen, sehr anziehenden Jungen Fox trifft, der stets mit einem Pelzmantel unterwegs ist, findet Katherine ein Notizbuch ihrer Mutter, in dem diese gemeinsam mit zwei Freundinnen, vor vielen Jahren ein Spiel und dessen Regeln aufgeschrieben hat. In diesem Spiel mussten dem Namensfresser Namen geopfert werden. Zu diesem Zweck haben die drei Mädchen seinerzeit Figuren aus Büchern gestrichen und diese so dem Namensfresser geopfert.

Roley und John lernen Alice kennen, die im Dorf bei ihrer Mutter und deren Freundin lebt – wie sich später herausstellt, sind diese beiden Frauen die Mädchen, die gemeinsam mit John und Katherines Mutter das Spiel erfunden haben. Die drei haben versucht, das Spiel hinter sich zu lassen, doch die Wesen aus ihrer Fantasie wollen weiterspielen.

Alice, Roley, Katherine, Catriona und John geraten immer tiefer in das Spiel. Die Zickereien der beiden Cats darüber, wer von ihnen den Namen behalten darf enden in einer Katastrophe, die auch Roley und Alice mit sich zieht.

Ich kann wirklich nur eines sagen: Wow! Ich wollte ständig wissen, wie es weitergeht. Man tappt ebenso lange im Dunkeln über die wahren Bewandtnisse des Spiels und seiner Figuren wie die Kinder selbst, kann einiges vielleicht vorher erraten, wird aber von anderen Ereignissen und Enthüllen vollkommen überrascht. Das vom Hersteller empfohlene Alter für dieses Buch ist 12 – 15 Jahre. Meiner Meinung nach dürfte es allerdings nach oben gar keine Begrenzung geben. Die Geschichte hätte auch mit älteren Figuren und dadurch für Erwachsene erzählt hervorragend funktioniert. Die Figuren verhielten sich nie wirklich kind(l)ich. Selbst John legt eine gewisse Reife an den Tag – mitunter sogar mehr, als seine beiden Schwestern – die man einem zehnjährigen so vielleicht nicht zutrauen möchte. Auf der anderen Seite ist er vielleicht gerade der am ehesten geeignete, die ganze Situation in dem Haus und mit dem Spiel am ruhigsten anzugehen. Er akzeptiert einfach, dass die Dinge so sind, während sich seine älteren Geschwister erst dagegen wehren, die übernatürlichen Ereignisse als wahr anzunehmen. So ist es auch überhaupt nicht mehr verwunderlich, dass er derjenige ist, der das Spiel durchschaut, versteht und schließlich die Lösung findet.

Catriona hat mit auf ihre Weise besonders gut gefallen. Das Mädchen ist einfach egozentrisch und sieht es nicht ein, auf irgendetwas zu verzichten, dass ihrer Meinung nach ihr gehört. Dabei ist sie nicht missverstanden oder eine Rebellin, die gegen die Ungerechtigkeit der Welt protestiert. Sie ist einfach eine Zicke. Punkt. Sie liebt es, Katherine das Leben schwer zu machen und genießt das richtig. Umso härter trifft es sie, als sie mit Delilah und deren Spielchen konfrontiert wird. Katherines Sticheleien sorgen schließlich auch dafür, dass sich die eigentlich sanftmütige Katherine zu einer sehr drastischen Racheaktion hinreißen lässt. Die Figuren handeln absolut glaubwürdig, bleiben sich treu und machen dennoch die nötigen Entwicklungen durch, die sie auch brauchen, um das Spiel zu bestehen.

„Böses Blut“ hat mich von Anfang bis Ende gefangen genommen und mich mit auf eine düstere Reise mitgenommen, in der doch immer wieder kleine Lichtblicke vorhanden waren. Die Gefahr ist stets spürbar, man muss sich ständig fragen, wem und was die Kinder trauen können, selbst sich gegenseitig. Ein selbstausgedachtes Spiel, das ein Eigenleben entwickelt, dabei aber nicht wie Jumanji übermäßig in unsere Welt eingreift, sondern im kleinen Rahmen bleibt, dadurch noch beängstigender ist; Figuren, die sich ein paar Mädchen aus Langeweile oder Sehnsucht ausgedacht und zum Leben erweckt haben, in dem sie dem Namensfresser Opfer darbrachten; die Wichtigkeit von Namen, das sind Dinge, die ich auch als Erwachsene sehr faszinierend fand. Dazu kommt die für ein Jugendbuch passende Familiengeschichte, das Miteinander-statt-Gegeneinander und ein wenig Romantik. Ich kann gar nicht anders, als diesem Buch die volle Punktzahl zu geben!(less)

Ein atemberaubendes Buch, das steht ganz außer Frage, schließlich konnte mir allein die Erinnerung schon einen Schauer über den Rücken jagen, wenn ich allein im Zimmer war. Rhiannon Lassiter versteht sich einfach darauf, den Leser gefangen zu nehmen, ihn vollständig für die Geschichte zu begeistern.

I wasn't really sure what to expect when I was reading this book. I noticed an author who had reviewed it that did make me hesitant as I found that particular authors books rather dull. However, boy was I surprised when I started to read it, for it was a whole lot more than what I was expecting and was therefore glad that I had not let that one small factor cloud my judgement of reading it. The book really seemed to have a very unique quality that had me engaged from beginning to end. The plot of the story has to do with three girls from the past and four kids who come across the past. Its all about working out the good from the evil and learning to work together rather than being at one anothers throats all the time and that in itself is a very thought provoking concept. In the story we meet two girls who are step sisters but who hate one another so much due to having the same nickname, cat. Neither one is willing to change there name and both are adament that the name belongs to them. It causes nothing but mayhem and nonsense within the family, a complication that could quite simply rip the family apart if they don't pull themselves together. Stuck between the literal cat fight are two boys, who get on but rather awkwardly. One wants to be someone different and another is kept to himself, simply ignored because he is the youngest.

When the family are literally at wits end they receive a letter from an old family relative inviting them to have a small holiday at there home. This sounds good to them and could very well be the thing that they need to get them all working together as a family. However, they didn't expect to run into the trouble that they did. there are secrets from the past that are better left as secrets, things that should never have been uncovered and there are still two very hateful spiteful girls who refuse to get along. all of this is a recipie for disastor, so it really is no cliche when everything starts to go wrong. Despite that though, I still find that there is a lot going on that catches the audiences mind and allows them to ponder throughout the pages, especially when we meet two new characters and we are left wondering how on earth they are left to link to the novel and its plot.

In all respects the whole book is neatly and well pieced together. it draws you in in a way that makes you understand and sense the fear that the others are going through. you become one with the characters, identifying there emotions and wanting to tag along with them. However for me, I did find that the book dragged on a little, but this wasn't a big issue in my opinion. it just simply seemed to add this hesitation of you wanting to carry on, wondering if you would actually find out what was actually occuring and who was at fault. However when we did reach the plot you could see that the hints were actually placed there throughout the whole thin, that the make believe game represented the names that had been sacrificed, the droids with the missing eyes were part of the sacrifices, and that it was all about a revenge technique that was going to go very very wrong.

I felt that there was actually many a lesson that could really be learnt from the pages in the sense that it seemed to say to the reader, that sometimes revenge is not the best way, especially if it is another person trying to coax us into following through with a plan that sounds difficult. But we also see that sometimes it takes the worst of actions and consequences to draw something back together more tightly than before. It can take a very very sticky situation to bring back a family and make them whole. I do feel that the book was well written, but it had its fault. the beginning was dragged out, the plot was rushed and the ending wasn't really much of an ending. The whole structure of the book was dense, lacking and lame in many ways. I wouldn't say that it ruined the book however, I just think its something that perhaps could have been better well presented. I was left wanting more at the end and that was irritating because the book didn't really leave much room for there to be a second novel or to make it a series, so that was frustrating in its own sort of way. none the less, the book deserve a three star rating. it was good and I enjoyed it, but it wasn't brilliant, it was just an enjoyable read that was powerful in its own sense. I am reluctant to give up on a book even when I'm not enjoying it as I keep believing it will get better, that on the next page the story will really kick in. Well, unfortunately that wasn't the case with this one.

Judging by the cover and blurb I was looking forward to an old-fashioned haunted house story. What I got was reams and reams of boring ramble that went nowhere, characters I hated, no plot to speak of and an ending that made no sense. A waste of my time.

War ganz cool, viel besser als ich nach dem Reinfall mit Dreamwalker der Autorin erwartet hätte. Das ganze Spiel und seine Figuren fand ich unheimlich kreativ, v.a. Fox hat es mir angetan (und Stefan Kaminski hat ihm wirklich die perfekte Stimme für's Hörbuch verliehen). Eigentlich hätte ich gern noch mehr über die Fantasiewelt/wesen erfahren, aber auch die Familiengeschichte hat ihre Reize (davon abgesehen, dass ich die Eltern viiiiel zu relaxt fand als plötzlich 3 ihrer Kinder verschwunden sin...more

Wow! Great book. "Bad Blood" had attracted me since my first spot on this book. The plot was really cool, although I wasn't get it much. Still great, though. Don't mention about the ending of this book that made me wanna praise Lassiter. It's awesome.
Yeah, I'd learned something from the Make-Believe Game, in Bad Blood, thank this book,haha.

Nothing can force or upset you if you don't let it.
Be the best of yourself, and don't lose your way.

A great book overall.
I found the ending quite slow and it took me a while to understand the story but the middle and ending were great.
Though I didn't find Alice's narritive all that interesting for some reason, I was more rushing through her chapters than fully taking it in. She just wasn't a big enough character for me.
Anyways, 3 stars. If there was a half star on Goodreads I'd put 3 1/2 but since there isn't I'm rounding the number down...Bye.

This book has an interesting story and great imagery, but it was so much a children's tale that it was disappointing. Other authors manage child/adult cross over but not here - not too sure who this was aimed at - a shame!

An odd book in that I can see how it could really appeal to some people, but it just didn't "do it" for me. Part of it is that I'm too old, and part of it is that I've never really been too fond of horror books. However, it'll be just perfect for kids who've outgrown Goosebumps but who aren't quite old enough for Stephen King yet.

Ao ler a capa dizendo que haveria momentos de terror autentico, pensei que seria um livro de cortar a respiração com verdadeiros momentos de suspense mas acabou por defraudar as expectativas.
