I love this family of men! The de Burgh brothers are all unique, and each of their stories are turning out that way as well!

Taming the Wolf was Dunstan and Marion's story and is firmly planted on my "keeper shelf". The de Burgh Bride is Geoffery and Elene's story, and after reading hundreds of romance novels, I can say that I've never read one like this before!

Geoffrey draws the "short straw"...literally and is ordered by the king to wed "the Fitzhugh". Elene Fitzhugh is known for her violence...more

It was kind of interesting, although I got bored and skimmed towards the end when they had to confront the cardboard villain (whose identity was obvious).

However, I could not figure out Elene's appearance - for most of the book her hair is supposedly
a) completely uncombed (as in years and years worth of being uncombed)
b) unwashed for years and years
c) over three feet long (below her waist when finally combed out)
d) apparently hanging over her face like a veil the whole time

All of these detail...more

Book 2 in the de Burgh series

4 ¾ stars (almost 5!)

Another amazing addition to the de Burgh series! Ms. Simmons writes so beautifully that it’s so easy to get drawn into her world and her characters in it. By the King’s decree one of the de Burgh sons must marry Dunstan’s neighbor- Elene Fitzhugh (the daughter of Dunstan’s enemy from the first book). Elene is known as a wild and fearsome creature. No one wants to marry her. So they draw sticks. Geoffrey gets the short stick- literally- and must f...more

Okay, a Beauty and the Beast story where the woman's the beast. How could I possibly resist? (For the second time, even? Shut up.)

I swear, this ends my romance train. I blame this on a comment to a review, as well as purchases from Amazon being slow. Also, also...Oh, I'm sure there's something else. Shut up.

Simplesmente... Geoffrey é maravilhoso, lindo, perfeito e o melhor De Burgh.

Sobre possíveis muti...more

Neyse sonunda yine tarihe ge...more

A reworking of the Taming of the Shrew - great book! So well written it makes you feel like you are there. I rarely read a book more than twice but this one I read once a year just because ^_^

The Plot is quite original: a marriage ordered by the king, one of the brothers draws the short straw and get the awful bride! Geoffrey is resonabel, sweet, almost perfect and Helene….. well she is not!!!
And although it’s nice written (by the way, like all the other books in these series too!) it just didn’t do it for me…

1,5 stars.
Rawr, I didn't like Elene from the beginning, and it got worse when she treated Marion like sh*t (not that I liked Marion that much). But okay, after a while she was a bit better.
Anyway, I really hate whenever the De Burgh brothers talks bad about her, either at the end of this book and expecially in the next books of the series.

I liked it a lot more than I thought I would, based on the summary. The heroine seemed kind of crazy at the beginning, but by the end, felt like I knew why she was the way she was.

The lack of Big Misunderstandings made me happy. There were so many opportunities for them, and they were avoided. Which is definitely a good thing, in my opinion.

I did like this; read it first before Taming the Wolf. Had I read the other first, it would have set this up for more success. Good characterization. A bit up and down as far as the heroine's character. Moves slowly at first, then almost too quickly.

Currently reading. I hope I finish this one today you may not know when will I last read books .:))
Anyway, I love the start on how they draw stick on who will marry the girl they all think that nobody would like.
