An enjoyable three and a half stars. (Penned by Mamie Dickens in remembrance of her father Charles Dickens.) My Father as I Recall Him quite simply conveys a daughter's deep personal regard for her father. In this she shares with the reader recollected anecdotes, sentiments, and bits of material from his [Charles Dickens] own writings. This book is less of a biography than a mere collection of fond memories. It tells us nothing about Dickens' childhood, or personal problems.

I found this little book refreshing. It is good to read a memoir where a child describes a good man and father.
