Australia, unfortunately, is very short on on novels written in a city or reasonable sized town during the first quarter of the last century. This is why novels such as this one and Eleanor Dark's first novel Slow Dawning are very important. As I have already bemoaned in my blog and a review, Slow Dawning is not available for love or money at the moment. Luckily Betty Wayside was free and announces where it is set immediately:
