MY REVIEW
I think the cover represents the stories within the book well. The shocking pink colour definitely draws your eye to the cover.
This book consists of twelve short "shocking teen stories" that are true. Subjects range from the typical "mean girls" that have got way out of hand and seem to think they can run a school because one of their mums is the Principal! To a teen who survived a cyclone, a situation that was a realistic version of the wizard of Oz where her house was literally lifte...more

If you’ve been reading Seventeen Magazine for a long time, or even if you’ve only just flipped one open, the My Life story is a cornerstone. Celebrity stories, makeup tips, fashion advice, and tips on boys and sex are all well and good, but Seventeen has always grounded itself with a truth is stranger than fiction story told to them by an ordinary girl who had an extraordinary experience. In “Shocking True Teen Stories”, they collect ten of these in an e-book for public consumption.

I don’t know what exactly I was expecting from Shocking True Teen Stories, but I wasn’t satisfied with what I got. I don’t think the title accurately depicts this short little collection of stories, because I didn’t find the stories that shocking at all. Most of them people have heard a thousand times before, in different ways, and others weren’t even news worthy.

I didn't expect much from Shocking True Teen Stories, but a lot of the stores were interesting and easy to relate to, because teen's go through these issues. My only problem is that a lot of the stories were repeated, by that, I mean that they were from the magazine. I am subscribed to Seventeen Magazine, so I browsed through a few of the stories, already knowing how the story was going to go.

These kinds of stories are somewhat interesting when you read them in an issue of Seventeen, but when you read them by themselves they fall flat.
What I didn't realize when I began reading was that all of these stories were previously published in Seventeen. As I read, it became clear to me that I had read the stories before and so they weren't very attention grabbing.
I do admire the fact that Seventeen put together this book. Some of the articles had to do with poor decision making and will hop...more

Typical stories from Seventeen Magazine. There are stories that cover just about everything. From the girl who lost everything in a tornado to friend’s dying from drug use. They use a short story method to tell the stories and hopefully get across to others what could happen. The stories also show each girls strength and courage in bad situations. While they cannot change the past they can move on with their lives and get past it. It would have been better if there were more details a lot of the...more
What a blast from the past! The editors seemed to have compiled all of the best true stories from the past few years of Seventeen and stuck them into one convenient and exciting read. I finished this on my flight home and already dog-eared a story to show a friend. I recommend this to anyone looking for a read that's fun, easy, and filled with a whole lot of bite-sized drama.

Seventeen is an American magazine for teenagers. It was first published in 1944 by Walter Annenberg's Triangle Publications. News Corporation bought Triangle in 1988, and sold Seventeen to K-III Communications (later Primedia) in 1991. Primedia sold the magazine to Hearst in 2003. It is still in the forefront of newsstand popularity among growing competition. This magazine is mostly for young girl...more
