A very promising beginning to what is going to be a fabulous series. Ripe with tension and raw sexuality, the first book of The Execution Underground envelopes the reader in the seamy underworld of Rochester, NY's paranormal scene. Not to be missed!

Coming off the high of SHADOW HUNTER, TWILIGHT HUNTER, the first full novel in the Execution Underground series, had a lot to live up to. Unfortunately, Jace and Frankie just didn’t do it for me in the way that Damon and Tiffany did, though I did enjoy the book. If you were looking for any kind of resolution of the cliffhanger that SHADOW HUNTER left us with, don’t pick up TWILIGHT HUNTER expecting any answers. What you will find, however, is a hot rom...more

I've got to be honest. I love a book and ultimately an author who can show you one thing and then give you something even more than expected. When reading the synopsis, I see that a werewolf hunter falls in love with a werewolf. But what Kait delivers is so much more than that. There are not only layers to the romance aspect but to Jace's character as well. Not one character (secondary characters included) in this book who are one dimensional. Heck, even the bad guy in this story comes out of no...more

A good book dazzles you with it's complexity, ingenuity and prose.

A bad book dazzles you with it's bullshit.

Following a common theme in mysteries, women are turning up mutilated and raped posthumously. Our bull of a hero (not literally, folks), Jace, is on the villain's trail, tracking the murders through the street of Rochester. Jace works for a division of the Execution Underground (aside: my favorite part of this book was probably that name), specializing in the slaughter of werewolves des...more

I have a new favourite series, this book was amazing so much more than a paranormal romance, serial killers, self discovery and a whole new world set up so effortlessly at least while reading it (sure it was hard work writing it) and I can't wait for book 2.

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

Set up, this book has a grisly start, a mutilated body, one of many and jace is there to find clues to the sicko killer. Someone else is lurking about too though!

Characters, Jace is a half breed werewolf, he hates werewolves and hunts them d...more

Wow. Not only do I have a new book boyfriend in the incredibly smexy and alphalicious halfbreed, Jace McCannon, I also have a new must-read series in Kait Ballenger's Execution Underground. Not only was Twilight Hunter fast paced and super duper smexy but it also features one of my favorite supernatural/mythological beings, the berserker!!! Oh and the heroine was pretty kick ass as well. Certainly can't forget about Frankie no matter how ferociously hot the hero was. Mmmm Jace!!!

WOW!!! I won this ARC in a giveaway and I am so glad I did. This lady has amazing talent! Half way through the book I knew I would buy the whole series as it came out, and by the end of the book I knew I would probably get everything Kait publishes lol. I read a lot and so many books follow the same path and sound so similar. This isn't one of them. I couldn't put this down. I love Jace and Frankie and I can't wait to read about the rest of the Execution Underground. This is going to be my new f...more

First Impression:

Great start to a series featuringass kickingband of brothers in arm hunting supernaturals.

Plot and Characters:

Jace is our hero. He's the best werewolf hunter on the East coast. His secret is that he has a nose for tracking wolves. Literally. Only one other member of the Execution Underground knows Jace is a werewolf half-breed. His mother was human and his father a werewolf. Thanks to Jace's abusive father he hates werewolves. That is until he meets our heroine, Frankie.

Twilight Hunter has a interesting world, even if not much in it is fresh or new. If you want to be positive you can say that, even if the world-building is very light, this same "lack" avoided the info-dumps or the lull that the first books in a new series usually suffer from.

I loved the first half, but I was growing more and more bored with the second. There are so many time that the misunderstanding trope can be used before it became stale. Here it was used every few chapters, creating a v...more

Kait Ballenger delivers a sexy romance with plenty of suspense and humor in the latest addition to the Execution Underground series!

As a member of the Execution Underground, bad boy and half-breed Jace McCannon lives to hunt and kill werewolves. While tracking a vicious killer on assignment, he encounters a beautiful alpha female werewolf and goes against everything he stands for when he lets her live and brings her to his home. Ms. Ballenger did not disappoint. After reading Shadow Hunter (Execution Underground #0.5), I was anxious and excited to get to this installment. Ms. Ballenger’s introduction to this series was remarkable. Twilight Hunter has a gripping story line with nonstop action, suspenseful twists, and well developed characters. Just like its prequel, Twilight Hunter was an awesome read.

Left with no choice, Jace is forced to work with the very beings he hunts. There is a mystery to be solved , and this se...more

My English review

I’ve read the Kait Ballenger’s novella before having the opportunity to read the first novel and I admit that I was curious to see how the story would be. Yes I was looking forward to see if I would find the characters I met in the first volume but eventually I completely forgot the novella when started.

Jace is a hunter pursuing rogues werewolves, yet he is himself hybrid and would be killed if his partners learn the truth about him. However, he enjoys his j...more

Another great book from Kait Ballenger! TWILIGHT HUNTER is a sexy, dark, intriguing, action packed roller coaster ride of emotion and hard hitting action with a twist on my favorite supernatural species thrown in. The Execution Underground is an elite force to take out rogue supernaturals. Jace is the best werewolf hunter on the east coast, but this case is his hardest yet. Women are dying, and dying horrific death, mutilated beyond recogn...more

*Sigh* What a breath of fresh air! Just before I started this one I read like 4-5 contemporary romance books that were all in the 3 star range and was just feeling down and out. :-( THANK GOD this book came at the right time to cheer me up!! Ever since Kait wrote a guest post (found here) about each of the members of the Execution Underground I’ve been intrigued by Jace. Here is how she describes Jace:

Twilight Hunter is a paranormal romance by Kait Ballenger. This book had a great storyline. There were so many different twists and turns of the plot that you never knew what was coming next. he surprises kept coming and none of what I thought was going to happen actually happened. When the last puzzle was revealed my jaw dropped and I had to reminded to close my mouth.

The characters and the romance were really lacking in this book. I felt absolutely no connection to either the heroine, Frankie...more

TWILIGHT HUNTER is the first full length novel (second story) in Kait Ballenger’s new paranormal romance series- Execution Underground – focusing on an elite group of warriors/hunters who protect humanity from the supernatural beings out to destroy or control the world. This is Jace and Frankie’s storyline. And in true paranormal style, not everyone is as they appear to be. Even the good guys are something ‘more’.

Jace McCannon is on the edge. With a string of unsolved murders that point at a vic...more

OMG! I love this new series from Kait Ballenger!

I had previously read Kait's E.U novella in After Dark and enjoyed it very much... rating it 5 stars. Therefore... I had high expectations for this book and Kait certainly has not disappointed me. Shifters, romance, fights... the passion and thrills will keep you on the edge of your seat. Warning! This is not a book to read to lull yourself to sleep!

I have been anxiously waiting to read Twilight Hunter by Kait Ballenger and I knew I would not be disappointed at all because the minute I read the first page…I was captured into the Execution Underground world. I literally had a hard time putting down this book. My poor hubby and two girls were neglected for a day and a half because of reading Twilight Hunter. (I may have also snapped at the hubby when he tried to talk to me…he’s not talking right now beca...more

HOLY SMOKES! Boy, did I score with this ARC! (Twilight Hunter)

I can not say enough about how much I LOVED this book. In a genre where it can be hard to come up with something fresh, not to mention gripping and well- written, Ms. Ballenger has raised the bar.

I am a total fan girl!

Though she's a virtual newcomer, Kait Ballenger clearly understands the paranormal romance category in addition to action and character development. Each character in Twilight Hunter, the first in her Execution Underground series, is three-dimensional, whether main or secondary characters. Male protagontist Jace has more layers than an onion, and refreshing female pack leader Frankie ensures that romantic tensions run as high as the main conflict. The result is an original spin on the ho-hum wer...more

"4 out of 5 stars! Not what I expected, but well worth the read. This novel brings you into the middle of a crime scene and throws you into an unwanted love affair between two people who seem destined for each other if they can only get over the little fact that they are enemies."

This was absolutely awful!

Poor writing, weak plot and messed up characters. Really, I don't know if there is anything good in this book.

Jace, the hero, was an half-breed asshole with daddy issues, who kept taking it all out on Frankie, the heroine, just because she was a werewolf and his piece of shit father was a werewolf as well.

Guess what, bitch? You're half werewolf too!

It was beyond ridiculous the shit he threw Frankie's way because her race was the same as his father's. The man was garbag...more

I was totally blown away by this book. Its not at all like you would expect! It was a rough, gritty, and in your face ride that I completely enjoyed!!

Jace is one seriously bad-ass and tortured soul. He's a loner with a love for justice and the underdog, as well as a deep hate for werewolves. His latest case he's assigned to is gruesome and he almost positive the killer is a werewolf. He has a surprise waiting for him at the latest murder scene when he shows up. The biggest part of the surprise i...more

~ 4.5 Twilight Hunter Stars ~

Twilight Hunter is book one in Kait Ballenger’s "Execution Underground" series. We have action, surprises, murder mystery and steaming up the bedroom romance. The plot is well done, fast passed, non-stop on the go action/adventure that I found myself drawn in and could not put this one down.

I liked Frankie she does not let anyone push her around. She is pack leader which is rear for a women to be in that high a position. As for Jace he has some major issues and I...more

"Paranormal fans have a new voice to check out with the debut of Ballenger's terrific first book in her Execution Underground series. Obstacles abound for this mismatched pair as they get caught up in the middle of a serial killer's spree. The author's characters are edgy and more than a little damaged, which makes their relationship struggles intense and riveting." RT Book Reviews, rated 4 stars

it was a nice read. I liked the characters, both main characters were enjoyable and interesting to follow. the story was good but the end was a bit of a rush.

what I did not like was that there were so many different perspectives. I love it when you can see things from the the male and female lead but in this book it was a bit much

all in all, if you like PR it is a good read

Jace is a Hunter of the paranormal kind, but when he runs into Frankie his life is changed forever. Isn’t that how it usually goes? She is Alpha to the Rochester Pack, so the last thing he needs to do is get involved with a were. I lived in Rochester for ten years, so I was very familiar with the territory, but I never did run into a were or a hunter. Drat, I wouldn’t have minded running into Jace myself. He’s a good guy that gets a bad rap and a great example for all the males. I love books abo...more
