Mascha! How did it take me twenty-six whole years to find you? Mascha, where have you been all my life?

I think the best way to describe Mascha Kaleko is as a German-Jewish version of Dorothy Parker. They're contemporaries, and they both write clever, conversational poetry, the kind which you can consume easily and almost overlook the subtlety and beauty of the emotions they put into words.
