This book is great. It has something for all different levels of knowledge about the workings of the art market. The interviews are concise and insightful, and show numerous points of view, but it is also possible to find overarching themes. It was great to see how all the figures in the art market interconnect. My only criticism is that the book only interviewed one art critic, and everyone interviewed for the book seemed to think art criticism is dead. I don't know if that's true or not, I hav...more

Frank interviews with artists, gallerists, museum directors and curators, art consultants, critics, collectors and auction house big wigs about collecting. The professionals have their significant differences, but mostly agree about collecting: you'll be happy if you buy what you like and can afford. Do your artist and market research, especially for pricier works.
