Another book read for In2Books

Actually, not a bad biography of Einstein. Covers all the important life milestones, paints a well-rounded picture of Einstein without ignoring the fact that he was a crappy father and husband.

So why am I giving it only one star? There is a *glaring* science error in this book. Really egregious. right on pg 43, the author says, "Before Einstein, scientists thought that the sun was always in the same place, with the earth and other planets orbiting around it. .... Al...more

A:He really loved thinking, and I love playing the drums. If I could play the drums overseas, I would go overseas and leave my family.

Each student had a copy of this book. We read a chapter each week and then met in small groups to discuss it before coming together as a whole class to share our thoughts.

Here is a review that the class wrote together. We first made a mind map of our ideas and then put them together:

Albert Einstein was a hero who was guided by his strong character. Albert Einstein was a great thinker, but without patience he would not have been able to come up with all his equations and theories that helped the...more

In my case, I want to live comfortable, for example, I would go to see a movie once a week and grow some flowers in my garden, also take a walk on sunny days. Also, if I will be involved in volunteer work in my old age, I could contribute to someone or the world, so I want to do tha...more

This is the book that my In2Books student selected to read for the biography portion of her class. It's a good read - stretches the student a bit, asks thinking questions, and includes notable quotes from Einstein. It talks about his family, his work, his schooling, his discoveries, and his life philosophies.

Do you want to learn about Albert Einstein and how he became so famous? Then read Who Was Albert Einstein by Jess Brallier. This book is a biography about his life and famliy. There were lot of intersting and cool facts throughout the book. Four instance Albert was afraid of the Nazis so he told the president to build an atomic bomb so America wouldn't be blown up by Germany. Also, he was kicked out of school because he asked too many questions.

I really enjoyed this book because people thought A...more

This book is packed full of information of the worlds greatest scientist Albert Einstein. He was born in Germany and would not talk until he was three years old, complaining to his mom that his soup was too hot. He was terrified of wars and wanted to do stuff about them to stop wars. He was expelled from school for no good reason when he was young. He was a Jew and Hitler wanted to kill very badly. He moved to Italy and Switzerland and then last but not least to the U.S.A. He died a little after...more

This is a 3-4th grade book on one of the most brilliant minds in the history of mankind. This book tells of his life, his work, his character.

I almost didn't review this book because I felt like they could have done more for his compassionate nature. But I ultimately decided it was 5 stars for the details and the personality of the book. It's one of those rare publications where the author has a unique style of humor and in it, you feel as though he is right in the room with you. That makes up...more

very simple, but interesting. i wasn't too fond of the illustrations, but liked the straightforward, honest information.

questions asked to penpal:

Did you like reading Who Was Albert Einstein? I did! I was very interested in the fact that Mr. Einstein had moved to so many different countries to escape war and oppression. I thought he was a very brave man. I could not imagine going to a whole new country where I did not have any family or friends. I was also very surprised by Mr. Einstein's perso...more

I liked this book because it was a fun way to learn about Einstein. It starts off from when he was born and all the events that happened in his life. It also talks about all the inventions he created and describes them. It's actually a really fun book. I'd recommend it for people who like unique biographies.
Sara
This seems to be a pretty comprehensive biography, with lots of sidebar-type boxes explaining various scientific & historical concept. My friend was pleased that the book covered Einstein's first marriage and how he did not treat his wife so well (and how she may have helped influence his theories).
Maleigha
Of course our children and students of today, and next generations, are learning the importance of Albert Einstein and his “genius” accomplishments. This wonderfully illustrated story keeps students engaged and eager to learn, as it starts back from day one and takes you through his journey.
Isabella
This book was very interesting because it had so much information on Albert Einstein that I did not know, and it was so cool to find out that information. I think that this book would not only be good for people interested in Albert Einstein, but people not interested in him as well.
Amanda
This book gives a lot of insight into einstein's life and teaches more than just the funny hair and e=mc2. The pictures inside were grey and like sketches. i wasnt very fond of them and i dont think children will be as well. however it was very informational and an easy read!
Elizabeth
I am in a program called In to books. You read a book with a student and then you write to each other about it, like pen pals. So that's why I got this book. I did learn a lot about Einstein though. There are more of these books out there and I think I may just read them!
Cindy
Students can read about Albert Einstein when learning about energy. This book not only discusses all the scientific accomplishments, it also discusses his personal life as well. This book can make a real life connection with the students. Great for biography texts.
Jasmina
Now okay, this is a children's book so you have to read it and judge it based on that.

Even though there was a lot of information and facts about Albert Einstein and his life, it was very well presented.

I really did enjoy it because it gave me the overview in Einstein's life that I wanted. This is a really good book for kids to read, but also for those older that don't want to borrow a dozen books to slightly learn about him and his life. :)

I really wanted to give this three stars, but something there was missing. I felt like it was too sugarcoated after reading better kid's Einstein biographies. Newsflash: Being a genius doesn't make you a hero. It just makes you a genius.
Whitney Zollman
This is a fun biography the children will love. It gives facts about Albert Einstein as a child and and adult. Most people know the name Albert Einstein, but they do not really know about him. This is a great biography!
Lindsey Rogers
This book is full of fun facts about Albert Einstein. Students will love hearing about his ingenious ideas and other wacky stories. This book really makes learning about him fun! Use this during a unit on scientists.
Jon
For a biography, this book was really entertaining. It is only about a hundred pages, but they fit a lot of information in those pages. I learned a lot about Einstein, and I would recommend this book to anybody.

Who was Albert Einstein? Well... He was a scientist who discovered the theory of relativity (and...who doesn't know about the famous formula, E = mc2?), a peace-loving man with hair so disheveled, and one of the brilliant man who ever lived on this planet. I read this book less than 2 hours :) and am very interested about last page Last Mind.
He left a message before his death: My brain was donated to science,... and this is already done. Where's Albert's brain now?
Lucas
I thought this book was written in a good way. I liked how there were quick facts in the book about what Albert Einstein did such as creating the theory of relativity.
Tristan
This series is an excellent presentation of biographies. Wrote a mini book report. I want to be an inventor or patent lawyer so obviously loved it!
