This book was an easy read, yet full of some excellent facts on working in real estate investing. And it had my favorite thing - formulas to analyze just how good (or bad) an investment is, from a cashflowing perspective. McElroy reviewed how to analyze properties and their P&L statements, and how to put together a team (actually...that first). He did seem stuck on larger properties, and left me hanging with a few questions about smaller investments, but nothing overly required. One of the b...more

I initially bought this book thinking it would help me with wholesales and quick flips. That is not so much the case. This book is aimed more at multi-unit properties. It's not to say there wasn't some good advice in there. I still enjoyed the read and it was well written. On the day I decide to move on to multi-units I will indeed reference this book again.
But if you are like me and was hoping for wholesale or quick flip advice this is not the best book to read for that category.

This book makes investing seem possible for the average Jane or Jo. I currently am interning at a real estate investment company and many of the themes presented in the book are exactly how my bosses view the investment world. I look like a genius because I understand the basics and I build upon my knowledge with the internship! I'm soooo lucky. Moving along...The ABC's... is a great introductory piece. I took thorough notes and plan to put this knowledge to work soon!
this was a great book about details of real estate investing. I learned alot about how to make investments more strategic and less risky. There were alot of useful formulas and calculations on how to know if the investment is worth it or not and such. Great book if you are interested in learning more about the subject.
We would all love to have the passive income and tax benefits that income properties can provide, but how do you get started? This was a pretty good overview.
This book takes you from knowing absolutely nothing about real estate to teaching you how to talk to a seller, figure out a properties worth & much more.
Fairly decent guide to multi-family commercial properties. Will keep on my shelf and revisit when I start in that market.
Very informative, first book on real estate that I've read. Very easy to understand. Helpful.
Interesting book especially for anyone who wants to purchase apts. and duplexes, although the general principles no doubt apply to any category of rentals.

Matt wanted to read this book, but he hasn't gotten to it yet. He is really interested in investing in real estate, and I know so little about it that I thought it would be good for me to learn a few things. This was an easy and informative read. It gave some clear steps of what to do although it all sounds like way too much and too boring of work for me.
This book is a simple guide to real estate investing. Merely reading this book can help you learn more about real estate investing than most real estate agents. As this book is only the basic, my warning is to do a little more research before applying all of its materials.
Very very good advice. Not fluff.
One of the better primers on REI out there. I'd read this and Rich Dad / Poor Dad first -- if you intend to get involved in real estate or business building.
It takes courage to do what this book advises and it really doesn't give you enough instruction to build up that confidence. But still interesting.
