David's a friend of mine, so my review is biased, but the book is a fun look at the early days of the dot-com bubble, when fortunes were to be made (nearly) overnight and California was where it was all happening. David manages to weave a good story around a media mogul, his frustrated son who wants -- and gets -- a chance to prove himself out from the patriarchal shadow, and a beautiful Japanese woman who knows where the future lies. Richard Williams, playboy sin of a newspaper empire father gets a chance to start an online paper, a new venture for the Williams Group. His dad has stacked things against him and he rebels and goes off on his own after being virtually disowned.
