The book is OK. There are a few minor factual errors. Being that Wake was a relatively small battle the book does not have many pages. There are a few maps but some locations mentioned in the book are hard to find. I would have liked a bit more analysis on the actual casualties and especially which specific ships were lost by the Japanese.

Following the attack on Pearl Harbor, the Japanese attacked the American refueling station on Wake Island. The American relief expedition turned back 300 miles short of the island leaving the defenders and civil construction workers to their fate. The following events were in the tradition of the 300 Spartans and the men at the Alamo.
I liked that it was written somewhat in the style of "Day of Infamy" and "The Longest Day" with minute-by-minute/hour-by-hour narratives of what was happening. I still felt like something was missing but couldn't put my finger on what it was.
