This series could very well be a Hollywood blockbuster, in that it shares several elements in common with said movies. Kyoji Kido is a cop working working the juvenile division. He’s more than good at his job, which is why he gets away with having an Attitude, and making free use of his wicked big gun. Of course, Kido has a tragedy in his past which helps explain his Bad Attitude: while he was on a job for an elite squad of the antiterrorist unit, Kido’s younger sister was killed by the terroris ...more

a patron complained about the cover character having a gun in her bra, which of course made me want to read this. having read it- the cover is just lame marketing. kasumi remains clothed throughout the book. honestly, i thought this first volume was good enough to sell itself without this cover...but whatever. let it go.

anyway, it's about a junior high student (kasumi) who is partnered with a police officer trying to shut down a terrorist group that keeps killing cops. of course officer kido is

Engrossing, if you can suspend your disbelief. I can understand a young teen being an expert shot, but being able to ignore the recoil of heavy weapons is just...strange. Terrorists who use children and teens as their front, combined with guns and police stuff. Violence and gripping drama, done fairly well.
The odd bits of comic relief work better than I thought they would, as when Rose rearranges the detective's apartment shelves for her collections of stuffed pandas and submachine guns.

[Series Length: 4 volumes / Read: volumes 1-4]

Hard-hitting action noir (with a high body count) from Tohru Fujisawa (creator of the landmark "GTO" manga series). Four volumes wasn't nearly enough to flesh out the characters of the story, which is why it is continued in the "Rose Hip Rose" manga series.

Stereotypical teens with guns story. Not bad, but nothing original either. If you liked Fujisawa's drawing style in GTO, it's pretty much the same here.
Bruno
Prequel voor de Rose Hip Rose serie, en --afgaande op deze eerste episode-- is er nog ruimte gelaten voor een pre-prequel!

Would love to see this as an anime.
