I never really liked Eisner before but now I get it. He's like the Chekhov of comic books- one of its first and finest practitioners, capable of telling nearly any type of story from the simplest of building blocks, and inventing new and dynamic methods for telling, all with an economy and precision of visual language.

Must-reading for anyone who presumes to like and know graphic lit and comic books -- the form may never have had as great a visual innovator as Eisner. Just his cover pages are worth the price....
