I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest reviews.

Plot line.
Good vs Evil is the basis of this story as with millions of others in the same genre...
Choises between good and evil is as old and older than writing...
Being betrayed, having to choose is ancient, Cain and Able can tell you that...
Samantha however has a twist on this age old battle, one I found entertaining and I am sure it will resonate with most readers.

Back off Buffy!

I raised an eyebrow or two before I decided to take a stab at this one. Seriously, my genre is non-fiction history. In the past months I've taken a moment and stepped away from the comfort zone to see what else is out there. Some of the books have been really good while others shouldn't have been written. This one falls into the first category.

We have all seen the same old story line concerning good and evil. It's been done a thousand times with the same results, but never have w

I found that angel books have a high exception of what they are supposed to be like. Most are all "angles are good" and so on. Torn wasn't your average angel book. I really liked Sam and her personal struggle with what she felt and how she acted. She knew what she wanted, even if that wasn't what it seemed like to the others. I enjoyed her personality and she was...relate able. The background and explanation of the angles was wonderfully written. I liked the suspense and you didn't really know h ...more

I really couldn't put this down. I read until 3am.
So if you want a fabulous book with angels who are both light and dark and with a girl who is struggling to come into her own THEN THIS IS THE BOOK FOR YOU!!!

I was given an Advanced Reader Copy of this book by the author in return for an honest review.

This is a fantastic YA paranormal thriller/romance that I fell in love with!

Samantha English thinks she's just another teenager, but she's not. She is a fantastic character, who is confused and upset at the death of her father. However, she finds out that there were secrets kept from her by her father and the two boys in her life, Luke and Ethan; Secrets that completely shatter her world.

Christine Hughes creates a refreshing supernatural plot with the notion in mind that everybody loves the concept of forbidden love, betrayal and the prospect of a young person whose destiny is to save the world.
The overall storyline is symbolic as it gives the overall image of ‘one thing cannot be present without the other.’ Dark cannot be without light nor love without hate. This overall message running throughout is very good lesson that can be carried through life; there will be fear and sadn

Firstly I would like to thank Christine Hughes, author of Torn for giving me this wonderful opportunity to read and review this fabulous book.

Argh!! Prepare yourself for a cliffhanger my friends......

So let me start with the iffy part first. The beginning of 'Torn' did have me a bit confused as it went back and forth between present, past, dreams and reality. I got to a point where I wasn't sure if a pivotal scene with Samantha aka Sam (our poor tortured main character) actually did happen or if she just dreamed it. Later in the book these first few chapters are explained and I was fine with it at that point.

So that's the iffy and her

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review (Lop or Lovers of Paranormal)

Another wonderful read by yet another author. Torn was a beautifully written book with strong characters. The whole angel aspect was not new, but the story definitely was. But there were times in the book, if you read very closely, you can figure our what happens in the book(view spoiler)

I enjoyed Torn, it was an interesting book to keep me occupied for a couple of hours. Samantha, is a fallen angel with both the blood of the Exiled and the Faithful. When her father is killed before he can explain anything to her, the job falls to her best friend Lucas and Ethan. She will have to choose a side to fight on, and since she is of mixed blood both call to her, especially the Exiled. The book really came from the characters. Hughes does an excellent job with her character development. ...more

I was gifted a copy from the author for an honest review. This is a series I am sure to follow because I love reading about angels. Ms. Hughes has got my attention on this one. So if angels and demons is something you enjoy reading then pick this book up.
Samantha isn’t allowed to mourn the loss of her father. She’s training on a daily basis and not sure exactly why certain talents are coming out in her. But she hears a voice of someone that is calling to her to join them and it’s getting closer.

Torn

In a race to save humanity, fallen angels of both dark and light fight against each other. Samantha is thrown into this world after her father dies and nothing will ever be the same for her again. With so much being thrown at her in a short space of time, it’s hard for her to get her head together and the dark is just so much easier to follow. It’s a very intriguing read, with a well thought out plot line and I loved the way the author managed to combine both dark and light

I received this book in return for an honest review (LOP or Lovers of Paranormal on Goodreads.com).

Wow! This book is amazing! Such a great addition to the genre. It was unpredictable and didn't follow the standard formula that we often see in YA paranormal suspense. I cannot wait to see how Samantha uses the new talents she has discovered and how her relationships with Ethan and Lucas will evolve. And what will Sebastian's next move be? This is the best kind of novel - the kind that leaves you w

(Read and also posted on Julie's Book Reviews)...Torn by Christine Hughes is an emotional roller-coaster, with a healthy dose of courage, adventure, and hope in the face of despair. Samantha is your typical teenage girl, with your typical teenage problems, but all-in-all she is happy, healthy, and loved. All of that quickly dissolves when she loses someone she loves. Arm in arm with her best friend Lucas, and his (shmexy) brother Ethan, Sam is thrust from the safety of the only world she has eve ...more

I loved the book. I like how Christine Hughes portrayed Samantha's character. She was brave, smart, and caring. I was sad by what happened with Lucas I was all for Sam being with him. (Sigh) maybe he'll make the right choice later on. I always like books that deal with an angel that has both light and darkness in them because it makes the plot more interesting with the internal conflict. Over all it was a great book and I hope I have a chance to read book 2.

I was lucky enough to be able to review this for Christine Hughes. She was a completely new author to me and I really like her writing style. I liked her specific take on angels. I wouldn't consider this biblical ya type work though. I read an article that another interviewer had done about the work and I didn't really think her classification of it was right. Ms. Hughes takes very much care to avoid sounding preachy. She doesn't really have a message about God..or so I felt anyway. Now about da ...more

REVIEW

This is a first time read by this Author for me.

In this book we have good angels vs dark angels. Samantha is a 17 yr old girl whose world is about to be turned upside down and the life she thought she knew will never be the same.
Samantha’s father James is trying to protect a box which has been in his care to guard. Sebastian kills him with the death

So I'm borderline on this one. And it sucks because I was prepared to really like it based on others' reviews. But if I am being completely honest, I had a hard time reading this book. Not that it wasn't interesting, but because the characters were just all over the place and I had no idea where this was going. It started out with James and that part was very good. Then things cut to Sam and at first that was going fine and I'm thinking so far this is interesting....until you jump back in time 6 ...more

I joined a reading group for the summer where they have this big challenge called Sweet Sicteen Summer Splash where we have to read sixteen books in sixteen weeks. Torn was the book for week two.
Now as I have Said before, angels aren't really my thing but I did enjoy this book. I think that is because Torn wasn't just about angels there was a good storyline too. I found there to bit quite a bit of mystery and a lot of secrets in this book, but that's what kept it interesting. I liked the sexual

This is a YA paranormal thriller/romance. The story revolves around Samantha English, a teenager who has just lost her father and is struggling to come to terms with this loss, while also slowly realising that everyone and everything around her isn’t quite what it seems; leading towards a battle between ‘good’ and ‘evil’. This basic plotline isn’t particularly original, however the freshness is revived by the interesting characters and the believability of Sam

Today's review is on Torn by Christine Hughes

Truth be told, I had finished reading Torn about a week ago but haven't had the chance to write my review until today. I tried a few times earlier, but just couldn't get it done. Kind of what it was like for me to read the actual book. The first time I picked it up I was only able to read the first chapter. The second time I got as far as chapter three. But it was the third time that was the charm.

Once I set everything off to the side and informed my

There is no good way to tell your best friend that her father was a fallen angel and that she is descended from dark and light. She will have to choose a side and hopefully it will be the right choice. Talk about pressure, since her fathers death Sam's life has been spinning out of control. Dark visions, voices in her head that terrify and confuse her though dreaming about her dad makes her feel close to him still but the fear in his voice is almost palpable. Something is coming for her and she ...more

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

I am amazed! So many books have been written lately in the Angel genre of good vs. evil that I truly thought this was just going to be the same story only written with a few new twists. Engaging right from the start, this Author surprised me with a fresh new look at being a fallen angel. When being good isn't always about being totally in the light. Where good people go bad, and good people die. It isn't a fantasy land where everything gl

I’ve always wanted to write. Ever since I was little, I would craft stories and poems but the idea to actually do it “for real” never really crossed my mind until last year. At the time I had no real idea of where the story would go, I just knew I had the time to do something with ...more
