Okay full review:
This book is charming in so many ways it's hard to explain.
I'm a fan of chick-lit books. Chick-lit is more enjoyable to me than romance generally because I like the humor. This book is a sweet ride between hilarious, heart-warming, heart-breaking, surprising, and very sweet.

'Will you marry me?'
I think of you, then. I think of you every day. But usually in the quietest part of the morning, or the darkest part of the night. Not when my boyfriend of two years has just proposed. I look up at Richard with his hopeful eyes. 'Lily?' he prompts.
It's been ten years, but it feels like only yesterday that you left. How can I say yes to Richard with all my heart when most of it has always belonged to you? I take a deep breath and will myself to speak...

This book isn't well-written... nor is it a book that will remain with you forever. But its incredibly romantic and the sexual tension seeps from the page. I haven't read a book with so much tension like that (without any physical elements involved) in a very long time.
Somehow the author has managed to brilliantly manifest the sexual tension between the characters without resorting to tacky sex scenes. She has captured the charged energy and repressed emotional chemistry in a sensitive manner....more

I have just read this book for the second time, and I have to say I think it is the most romantic book I have ever read.
I loved this book and can not recommend it highly enough.
I totally fell in love with both the main characters, Ben & Lily. I felt heartbroken for them and couldn't wait for them to meet again later.
It's really refreshing to read a book where the existing boyfriend isn't a complete loser. I have read so many books where the choice of two men is a real no brainer. The couple...more

I love the writing style of these books and how Paige makes the characters so believable and lovable. The heroines usually make mistakes which to makes them all the more human. The descriptions of Australia are great and I wish I could go there. I was a little worried about the story line to begin with, a teenage girl falling in love with someone older, I thought it would be some girly crush and pervy man but it felt like true love, you could feel the attraction and the pain.

Paige Toon’s Pictures of Lily was published in 2010 but I’m writing a review on it now because I loved it so much. This was actually the first Paige Toon book I picked up, I fell in love with the title, started reading it as soon as I arrived home and finished the entire book in one sitting.
This book is very interesting in that the first part is written from Lily’s perspective when she is a teenager, and then we fast-forward ten years for the second part which sees Lily now engaged to a man that...more

Pictures of Lily is an exceptional summer read by Paige Toon. This story reminds you that you can never forget your first true love, they are always with you.
Lily is uprooted from England by her mother so that she can go live with her new lover in Australia. The first thing which always sticks out for me with all Paige Toon books are the front covers. They are eye-catching and glitzy and you know by looking at the book before reading the author that it is a Paige Toon novel. Having said this the new book that is being released looks like it has a different style to the cover.

The book begins with a prologue, which you’ve just read above, and then cuts to a twelve-chapter long flashback of Lily’s life at 16, when her mother moves her from the UK to South Australia for her mother’s newest man. And in Australia, Lily falls in love with “someone she really shouldn't have fallen in love with”. When we cut back to the modern day, Lily is being asked the big question. But can she find it in her heart to forget her one true love?

Paige Toon seems to have taken the chick lit world by storm in the last couple of years, and no wonder, her books are immensely readable and once you start there really is no putting them down!
‘Pictures of Lily’ is Paige’s fourth book and has been very eagerly awaited by her fans, not least because she has been promising updates on our favourite characters from her other books.

‘Pictures of Lily’ is the fourth book from contemporary romance author, Paige Toon.
Lily came to Australia when she was fifteen. She and her mum moved halfway around the world (and took a 24-hour plane trip!) to come and live in Adelaide with her mum’s new fella she met on the internet.
Lily was initially reluctant. Not even her sexy quasi-stepbrother, Josh, could sweeten the deal . . . and then she met the kangaroos, and koalas. Lily’s sort-of-stepfather, Michael, worked at a local conservation...more

This book tell the story of Lily and the love that she have for Ben that has lasted a decade. It started with Lily who have to move to Australia because her mother wanted to be with Michael, her online boyfriend whom she has never met. Lily who was then, 15 years old, resented the move, eventually begin to like the place when she joined her mother's boyfriend to work at the animal conservatory. It was there she met Ben and the start of their friendship. Without realising, both of them started to...more
I’m a big fan of the author,
This book was magical from start to finish and a fine example of Paige Toon’s amazing writing style. Again Paige manages to incorporate some serious topics into a beautiful read and encourages you to feel the same emotions each character feels.

I was hooked into this book right from the word go. Given that it starts with a proposal that remains unanswered until a later point in the book, it is hardly surprising! I’ll admit that I was surprised that the book begins in Lily’s teenage years, I was expecting this to be the usual chick-lit formula starring someone my age, but to begin with, and we are taken back to Lily’s formative years, just as she is turning 16. She has found herself in Australia because her mum fell head over heels for...more
This book by Paige Toon was incurably romantic. But the main reason I was drawn to it was that I discovered by accident that it was set in my beloved Adelaide Hills. I live only a couple of minutes down the road from Piccadilly and Paige Toon has got the whole Adelaide Hills region spot on, from gorgeous but touristy Hahndorf, to the view from Mount Lofty (if you could call it a mountain). I could picture Ben and Lily at a Cleland-like conservation park and it is refreshing to have an author wri...more

If the second half of the book was as good as the first, I'd have given this 4 stars.
I loved the first half. I loved Lily & Ben's relationship & I cried when he lef, not quite believing he would actually go through with getting married! :(
I was going through pages so fast, eager for their reunion but, well, it was a bit of an anitclimax really. I wanted Ben to declare his undying love, say how sorry he was, that he'd regretted his decision to leave her for the past decade. I...more

I don't know. I really liked the "ten years before" part of the book though it annoyed me that nothing ever happened between Lily and Ben. I guess that would have been a little appropriate, but it's a little weird for me to long for a decade for someone who you haven't even kissed once. I would have wanted there to be something. Holding hands? Cuddling?
The second part, the "now" part, was, at least for me, all about the big reunion. Wherever she went, I was always like "will he be there". Then...more

Recommends it for:
Those, who appreciate light-hearted romance and chick-lit
I wasn't sure whether I should give this two stars or three. I rated it three because I liked the first part; the second part, however, is very boring and I considered calling it quits. I did not stop, though, and finished it - although I just didn't like Lily anymore. She's cool as a teen but becomes very whiny as a grown up.
This is a good read for all you romantics out there that believe true love lasts forever.
The first half is told through the eyes of a 16 year old Lily and focuses on her friendship with Ben, where she soon falls in love with him despite the 12 year age difference. This part reads like a young adult book which to the author's credit works well as you get to enter the mind of a moody teenager who has just moved from the UK to Australia. It's not a typical teenage crush like you would think, but a...more

When Lily moved to Australia with her mother aged 16, the last thing she expected was to fall in love with someone, but fall in love she does. It doesn’t help, though, that the man she falls in love with not only has a girlfriend in England, but is also twelve years older than her. When he departs for England to join his girlfriend Lily is heartbroken and finds that, even 10 years later, she still can’t forget him. So when her boyfriend of two years, Richard, proposes, she’s quite literally gobs...more

although i really did enjoy this book, i did enjoy her newest book 'one perfect summer' better, i don't know why, maybe because of the age gap be Ben and Lilly, but i still am very impressed with this book, still worth the all mighty 5 stars!

I SO enjoyed this book! I could hardly put it down, and was rooting for true love to win in the end. And, it does :)
It was well written, easy to read, and the author skillfully makes the characters both lovable and believable. It was easily to see the world from their perspective, to feel their love, their pain, their frustration, their joy, etc.
Things I liked:
- The story is about "real" people. No one is famous, fabulously rich, etc. They are just average, every day people falling in love. I...more

This was almost a 5 star all time fave, at least through the first half. I thought this was going to be my dream book since for the first part our heroine is 16 so it was half YA novel and the other half chick-lit. Unfortunately the second half dragged on and on without getting to the good stuff. Then by the time the good stuff happened the book was over. Abrupt endings are my main complaint with Paige Toon books. I wish she would just give us a little bit more of the happy endings after we have...more
