Superheroes Wear Faded Denim is a Paranormal/YA novel written by Law Reigns. About a month ago the author contacted me for asking me to review her novel and I was so glad to accept her request. The plot caught me from the first moment I read it and the excerpt she sent me for her guest post just made me more curious about her work.

Blissany has always thought she was just an ordinary girl and she has always lived in the shadow of her man-eater friend Demi. She would have never imagined she would be the Key, Nivide's own creation, the only one who could donate to mankind the possibility to survive to the evil Apollyon. Infact the Earth is seriously threatened by the Low Court, one of the three Realms, where all the evil creatures live; The High Court, populated by the custodiae, angel beings, has the responsability to assure the survival of men. For this reason the Four Highest are taming Blissany's dreams, because she needs to believe in magic or the Earth will pay the consequences. During this hard journey she will discover she's not on her own: Nivide has created another superhero, Don, the Paladin, who will fight on her side against Apollyon. Will Blissany ever accept her destiny? Will Blissany and Don succeed in defeating Apollyon? And what about Wanikiya? The sexy Redemeer who has always been in love with her best friend, Blissany; will she accept his marriage proposal? As always, read to know!( God, I love ending the summary of the plot with questions LOL)

The book was really a curious reading, I really want to warn everyone that the author has a wide imagination. Personally, I've never read something about angels and different Realms, and it was quite entertaining reading something different once in a while. I think that the base idea for the plot was really good and also well-developed but sometimes I was totally lost! In certain points the story was not very clear or too many information were given to the reader and these reasons created a little bit of confusion. There was a precise point in which the whole story about the war and Apollyon was completely lost, replaced by Blissany's desire of revenge against Demi. Anyway, I think these were the only things that didn't convinced me about the book.

There was a great variety of characters and, even if sometimes they seemed stereotyped, they were intriguing. Blissany was a girl with very little self-esteem and her insecurity was not helped by the behaviour of her best-friend Demi, who always won against her on everything. Despite her insecurity about her physical appearance she had a great personality; she was very, very stubborn and I hated when she refused to believe in what was happening for so many times. I mean, at a certain point, you can't deny the reality of circumstances anymore.Then there was Demi, the classic competitive Barbie Girl ( with dyed hairs); I spent most of the book hating her because she really was a bitch but then, at the end, the author has completely transformed her character. In the last few chapters she was possessed by a fimus, a demon from the Low Court, who revealed her the blackness of her soul. The revelation completely changed her, causing her a mental breakdown who led her to become a better person, someone who would not throw away your clothes just because of her jealousy! Don, instead, was the Paladin, the fighter who has accompained Blissany during her mission and a really adorable person. He has Asian origins and that made me think about an handsome guy, with straight dark hair and pale skin!! Mmmmh, by the way, at the beginning I didn't understand what joke he was playing, because I imagined he liked Blissany even if he had a relationship with Demi, but, in the end I figured out how nice he has always been. He stayed with Demi even in those moments when she was pretty much a demon and their love was tormented, really. They were together but they didn't realised how much they needed each other until the very end.And at least, but not last, Wanikiya, the most kind character ever. He was so nice with everyone (except for Don LOL) and he was so charming, and not only for his personality! But I don't feel like I've been particulary tied to his character.

In the end, I really enjoyed reading this book because I really liked the framework in which the author set the story. I would recommend the book to all Fantasy lovers but especially to those who are fascinated by angels!(less)

First, what I liked. The story is unique and the main character Blissany comes across as a fun-loving girl some women might have a secret desire to be. But as Law tries to share her character's experiences, things become complicated and the reader tends to lose some sense of direction.

More importantly, I think there are large sections of this book which I feel missed the sharp eye of an editor. Of course, this did not make the reading experience pleasant and it took me a long time to finish.

Short review: The books is supercalifragilisticexpialidocious and unique. The characters have many flaws that make you slap and slow grind them at the same time. The book desperately needs an editor and someone to reformat it, but my eyes still made love to this book (fast and slow).

Long review: I want to disagree with another reviewer because I'm violent and enjoy conflict. I didn't find the characters weak. They had big character flaws (like Texas BIG), but it was a great representation of our narcissistic society. What I liked about the main girl, Blissany, was that she wasn't controlled or manipulated by men. She was an aggressor [RAWR]. She wanted spark in her life and went all out to get it, which blew up in her face. Did the characters complaining get annoying? Hecks yes. I have to admit that, but it was good.

I loved this book because the story wasn't standard. I haven't read anything like it.

The beginning was >_< for me to get through. This entire novel needs an editor to chop off 20% of the length and repetitious nature. And there are many scenes that seem unnecessary, like the old guy that paints. Maybe he'll be in another book?

There isn't enough description in the first few chapters so I felt like a chicken running around with my head cut off. Who is this hunky guy? Who's this guy with honey eyes? What does this place look like? Why is the conversation so awkward? Are we in the nineteenth century or alternate universe? I had so many questions. BUT after pressing on, many of those questions were answered.

When Don is introduced, the story picks up and things get more realistic. I definitely read the last 50% two days so that lets you know how engaging the story can get. Then again, I'm a bit obsessive.

The action is meh and confusing at times. The chase scenes are very thrilling (bus scene two thumbs up). But understand something: this is a ROMANCE - and a corny one at times. Breakdown: 98% romance, 1.5% action, and .5% comedy.

This book ain't for everyone, but I loved it.(less)

Action packed barely begins to describe this book. I was a bit overwhelmed at first, trying to follow the ups and downs of the story. College life mixed in with a few otherworldly beings. Michael, Gabriel, Uriel and Raphael...hmmm I believe I've heard those names somewhere before.

I will admit that this book is difficult to get into at first. Blissany suffers from narcolepsy, which means she can sleep anywhere at any time. It causes her lots of problems, as she frequently misses classes and other events. When she is sleeping, she is often vividly dreaming. Gabriel and the others use these dreams to their advantage, trying to convince her that she needs to come save them. I thought the plot line in this book was unique, and I enjoyed the overall plotline which is why I gave it 3 stars; however, I really struggled with some of the exposition.

I absolutely loved the title and cover, and the synopsis only helped me get more excited into reading the book. However, I was disappointed in realizing they almost have nothing to do with the book. The book revolves around our world and how it's about to embark on a war due to one of the higher powers being rejected and wanting revenge. They had warriors created with specific powers, prepared enough for such a war. The problem of the matter was, the warriors aren't as supportive of the war and their role in it as the higher powers had expected. Don, believes in what he's told, yet he has mixed feelings about being involved in the whole thing. Blissany on the other hand refuses to take part in the war in real life. So Gabriel tries to convince her in her dream world, yet when she still refuses, Gabriel erases her memories and decides to let her fight whilst sleepwalking, which is one of the reasons why Don has reservations with the whole thing. All Blissany has ever hoped for was a guy being interested enough with her to want to date her, not a war and magic and weird creatures. So when Don approaches her at a party, she's excited for a few seconds before her psycho roommate comes over and captures his attention. Things go up and down, visitors come from different worlds, there's art galleries and fraternity parties, and a whole lot of jealousy in the mix.

This story reminded me a bit of Dream Walkers and Dream Slayers (books I had reviewed a few weeks ago) but it was quite different at the same time. I know how this one is basing a new light on religious aspects like the higher powers and how one of them was rejected for disobeying the rules...etc. But I still liked this new dystopian world, with a surprise in the addition of vampires in the mix. Frankly this was not the book I had expected it to turn out to be at all, but I still enjoyed it very much! I also really liked the names Blissany and Wanikiya. The whole drama and love mess kept me on edge I had absolutely no idea how it was going to end up, so that was rather great.

Anyhow an interesting read!

I have some contradictory feelings with "Superheroes wear Faded Denim". Reason? Yeah, I will get to that later. Before that, I like the title and the cover. The story and the world was unique.

There is a war, raging between the higher and lower realms. Earth belongs to the middle realm. The action pretty much starts a couple of pages in and doesn't let up.

What an amazing, amazing read.

I loved "Superheroes Wear Faded Denim" by Law Reigns! Everything unfolded before my eyes like a vivid movie. And the characters!? They were all so well-rounded and unique. Each one was a star in my eyes, even the minor ones.

I was sent a copy of this book by Law Reigns in exchange for a review. And I gotta be honest here, I was terrified of it. I left it sitting in my Kindle library for weeks, afraid to start. Then I started reading, only to keep stopping. "OMG, what if I hate it? What do I say? MY BAD REVIEWS ARE SO MEAN! Do I pretty it up? Do I take the honesty route? What do I dooooo?"

Finally I decided to put on my big girl panties and just do the damn thing. If...more I'd say this is more like 3.5 stars, for the record.

Finally I decided to put on my big girl panties and just do the damn thing. If I hated it? Well, I'd cross that bridge when I came to it. If nothing else, I could gush about the title, right? Because, let's face it, that's a freaking fun title. And the cover is a little magical. Those are some nice jeans. I wonder if I could borrow those jeans?

The beginning was hard to get into. We get to know both Blissany and Don, and there's a lot of world building and backstory that has to be established while still moving forward. Reigns manages this, but only just. At times, it feels like a massive info dump and if there's anything I hate more than Insta-Luv, it's info dumps. So I struggled to stay involved, trying to get everyone straight. Okay. Here's Don. Childhood was kinda a mess. He's Asian. Here's Wanikiya. He's the redeemer? And maybe a sorta preacher? And a prodigy? And maybe at least part Native American? Ah, and there's Demi, who's a bitch but I think we're supposed to overlook that for now because she's Blissany's best friend. And Blissany. Homegirl has some issues and fruit colored hair and fleshy legs? And...now there's all these fairy/angel types? It got a little overwhelming, basically. Between the characters, their backgrounds, the realms and the war, I felt like I was chasing my tail trying to keep up for awhile.

The story itself was original and fun, pretty heavy on the romance and a little...bland? on the action. BUT! This is a paranormal romance (& good Lord, was there a lot of romance. Practically a love hexagon going on up in hurr!) but it does have enough action to appeal to the dirty action junkie in me.

My only complaint was that I felt like a good 30-40% of this book could have been cut and the end result would have been a tighter story. There was a lot of extras and it made the book pretty bloated. But all in all? A pretty damn fun read.(less)

This book is very surrealistic. It requires an ability to put aside the “normal” view of the world and accept the world of the book to fully grasp the concepts and ideas of the book. It would drive my husband crazy, but I enjoyed it for the most part. At times I was lost and confused, but those were rare.

Even though I am giving this book 4 out of 5 stars I still have mixed feelings for this book. I was really annoyed with the main character for the great part of the book. What saved the book is the how different it is, also the last quarter of the book was very good. The whole love triangle is annoying, however it keeps you reading because you really want to see what is going to happen.

This was a very creative and well written story. The story itself deals with regular college life: roommates, classes, and social stuff; then there's the fantasy side, dealing with a war, saving mankind, and uncertain what to do when dreams actually become reality. Normally, books with editing this messy would annoy me more. There are quite a few editing and choice errors I noticed. And yet...I really enjoyed this. It is kind of dumb, with a fully unbelievable plot, but the startlingly rich characters and balls-out suspension of self disbelief help a lot. I really liked the book. Really. However, the reason why it took me 1-2ish months to finish reading this book rather than 1-2 days was because the starting didn't catch my interest. i have to give her credit for her imagination. it's not easy to create unique characters and have them live up to and surpass expectation.
I found the book a little confusing though. There was too much and so many characters with dull emotions but towards the end the book actually came alive.
i was cheering for Don and B but i see why they ended up the way they did. it had to do with who they were supernaturally.

This story is about Blissany Cherry. I love her name, I think it's as unique as the story itself. I found this story slightly confusing, while it has a good strong plot, I felt like it was being rushed and like there was too much being added in at once. There are characters I loved and then some I just wanted to punch in the face. All in all I liked this book so I'm giving it a 7 out of 10.
