From the Grade 6 reading log files:

"The book I am reading is called Mrs. Pollifax and the Lion Killer. It is about Sammat, future king of Ubangiba. There are rumours that Sammat is a sorcerer who is linked to the lion deaths. The victims look like they have been clawed to death by a lion, but everybody knows there are no lions in Ubangiba. Sammat sends an SOS to Kadi Hopkirk in Connecticut. She goes and tries to help him, and Mrs. Pollifax goes too. There have been three deaths More...

This book had some annoying inconsistency's and eye roll moments. I also didn't realize it was a sequel so I should have read it's prequel first, but I don't think it mattered all that much. It wasn't as good as I remember other Mrs. Pollifax books being. I think I'm going to go back to the beginning of the series and start from there.

Mrs. P in fine form in a story connected to Mrs. Pollifax Pursued. Kadi is back and at the request of Sammi they travel to Ubangiba to deal with a Lion Killer and intrigue. I always miss Carstairs and Bishop when they're not included, though. Barbara Rosenblat brings the story to life with her reading.

I like this series because it is light reading but still a "who done it". Mrs. Pollifax reminds me of "Miss Marple", American style. Mrs. Pollifax has a lot more zip. Hope eternal for the young at heart. Could not wait to see what she would get into (and out of) next.

This story is a sort of continuation of "Mrs. Pollifax Pursued" in that Kadi and Sammat are back in the heart of it. Mrs. Pollifax is there trying to help Sammat fight terroriss in his country and unify it. It's got some interesting twists.

This mystery was set in Africa. Again, a good story with descriptive narrative and a decently provocative plot. Grab a Mrs. Pollifax mystery for a clean, moral feel-good mystery. (Actually, Mrs. Pollifax is moral, but her 'bad guys' are not!)

Always good to see old characters. Besides the whole aging/time period this is set in, there's a lot of continuity between the books in this series. Past characters and adventures aren't forgotten.

I may be getting a little tired of this series but I am not willing to give up yet. At least it was a quick read which I need since I have this huge scary stack of books sitting on my closet shelf.

Not as clever as some. Kind of slow-going, actually. A bit of a disappointment.

I see no reason to read any more of these. She's no Miss Marple.

Faced with a large amount of time on her hands, Mrs. Pollifax decides its time to give back to her country . . . by becoming a spy! Strangely enough, she's just what the CIA needs in an unassuming tourist. Despite what seems to be straightforward assignments (meetings and drop offs), Mrs. Pollifax always ends up to to the top of her famously fabulous hats in mystery and intrigue, and she always manages to save the day.

You have to read this series. These books are adventurous, funny and light hearted.

Mrs. Pollifax is an older lady with not much to live for. She thinks about committing suicide, then after visiting a psychiatrist decides that she would like to become a spy. After some confusion at the local FBI/CIA (office) she ends up getting an assignment. Her adventures just continue from there.

This one was the first where Carstairs and Bishop have not had a part to play. The book before this one , although it didn't start with them, included them at least halfway in. I have to say, I missed them!

Mrs. Pollifax continues to keep my interested and reading. These books are short, fun and interesting. I like the characters and the exotic settings. No sex, but some violence (not graphic at all).

It's a mystery and it's Africa. Okay, so it's not Heat of the Sun but still very readable.

The Mrs. Pollifax books are very fun light reads, but they're even more fun to listen to. Hearing it read so well really adds a lot to enjoying the story.
